What does everyone here think of Sky Channels boxing coverage?
I think fans in NSW get better access to Sky Channel. not many places in Melbourne still have it.

Its up to the the pubs isn't it?

During the Katsidis-Diaz fight I was on the phones in WA trying to get pubs to take up the coverage. In the end we only had one. from memory there ended up being 70 venues around Australia showing it, roughly 30 in NSW, 30 in Qld (6 in Toowomba (Kats home town)), 1 in WA, and 3 in Vic.
The Victorian number suprised me but I remember when I lived there it was the same for most fights, not too many pubs showing them and it seemed to be a different place every fight as no venue would take on more than one fight at a time.
Unfortunately Barge its a business decision at the pubs end and NSW & Qld pubs seem more ready to commit. Everytime I watched a fight in Vic it would always be at a different pub.
I know Mat Brooks has said they will be televising more local cards but they've only shown one Tuasa fight earlier this year. There is talk of Sky getting another channel next year and if this happens I'm know we will be in for a surge of boxing programming.

They don't show much Kegsy but have a look back at last months Canvas Classics. Now go back and look at ESPNs classics for the same month. The same half dozen fights over and over while Sky showed some great fights including a rare Khaosai Galaxy one. Sky is hampered by their racing commitments, we all know thats its primary function. But for many years they were the only place doing Boxing.
Its still primarily a racing channel that throws out the odd fight. And more often than not when they do its a bloody good fight, not the 600th repeat of Holyfield-Foreman.

I was glad they showed Mijares the other night ahead of his matchup with Darchinyan.
They should pull out a few more Mijares fights before November.:deal
