It was insane, the way Watt scored the last round even. It was a clear Sturm round even before he had Murray on ***** street. Watt knew he had the fight 6-5 to Murray and that he had to have the last round even to keep Murray ahead. Crap like that is why lots of commissions tell judges not to score even rounds. And this is after Watt was the only person in the world to score Sturm-Macklin to Sturm, giving lots of rounds he admitted Macklin should have won to Sturm because it was in Germany.
Although i agree sturm won the fight, saying that you cant score close rounds to a challenger is pretty ****in stupid.
i had it level by the end of the 11th....then the 12th round had murray reeling, with sturm landing some heavy bangers through out the round...i had it 10-8 116-113 is stupid scoring.
I think there was one point where Murray said something like I thought I did okay and Smith was like no you did incredible for 12 rounds.
I might have misheard, but I'm sure Smith last night said something along the lines of "Murray has definitely been the power-puncher in this fight". Might have heard completely wrong but Sturms shot were easily the cleaner and more eye-catching shots. Anyone else hear this? Thought the comm team were extremely poor, Jim Watts 10-10 round in the 12th was just the icing on the cake.
I had 115-113 Sturm. Smith was a complete joke, he was sucking Murray off so hard that even my missus commented on it.
Apart from the last round ****-up (it was closer to a Sturm 10-8 than a 10-10), I don't really think the commentary was that bad tbh. What's pissing everyone off? They may a missed a couple of punches, and called a couple of punches that didn't land (who doesn't?), but on the whole they seemed to be in a groove with the whole Murray-workrate Vs Sturm-cleaner-harder-punches thing, which is how I viewed it. I liked Sturm's more authoritative exclamation mark work and had him winning on my card btw.
