SKY give OK for Dudey-Khan fight

Forget Sky, they will just about give the go to anyone because it is Khan fighting in the UK. Will HBO ok it?

 

I cant imagine HBO picking too many views for this. I cant see them approving it either.

 

I'm not sure how much their opinion will matter for this fight. They won't be putting that much into the pot for a delayed fight, the money will come from Sky and the live gate.

 

He seems excited when looking @ Khan's Twitter.

would have been good to see McCloskey grab a belt and make a name for himself before stepping into a big one like this

 

Even so, GBP and HBO have close ties and I cant see HBO agreeing to air a fight if they're not going to make money from it. You are in all fairness probably right, I just cant imagine HBO approving of it.

 

McCloskey is what? 30? And Euro champ, its a great chance for him to step him and see if he's good enough.

 

Not the best chance for him to actually be successful but beggars can't be choosers. He would have been a much better bet against Devon, or Kotelnik a while ago. Khan's going to be a wee bit too quick fisted for a decent but not exceptional reflex based defence. It could be target practice actually, I hope not though. I hope he can slip Khan's jab occasionally and make a real fist of it.

 

Why the hell are you calling him Dudey? and I thought his options with Matchroom has run out?

Although I think McCloskey is a good challenger and would have a chance of winning the fight I cannot see it happening. HBO are a major influence and they will decide and theres 3-4 other opponents that would get paid a similar amount that they prefer.

For me McCloskey is a tougher fight than Peterson, Mathyesse, Guererro, Murray etc but does he bring anything more to the table? I don't paticularly think McCloskey would dramaticly boost PPV sales or capacity either.

Decent fight. I would've profered Peterson or even Katsidis, but can't complain much with McCloskey. He'll be overwhelmed and will lose, but he does bring something slightly different with his somewhat awkward style and could throw punches from Amir's blindside. It must be said though that Amir is known to be very good against southpaws, especially in his amateur days and gets the very best southpaw sparring.
