I was hoping to watch the Jamie McDonnell fight after the Ricky Burns fight. I'm still going to do that. However, I am now forced to do so knowing the result as the Sky Commentator (not Jim Watt the other guy) felt the need to reveal the result. Right after the finish of the Burns fight. I find this annoying as ****. I really do. It's needless. If Box Nation can have a policy where they don't give out the results to fights they aren't showing why can't Sky?
I agree, really annoys me when they do that. At least they never spoiled the brilliant 11th round for you, when McDonnell got badly hurt, while well up on the cards.
TBH mate the McDonnell fight ended 5-10 mins before the Burns fight you could of watched it. If you didn't wanna hear result i think mute would of been best option..
I made the decision to watch the Sky Broadcast first. They both started at 19:00. I don't see why I should be forced to do so on mute. I avoid forums etc if there is a fight on that I don't want to know the finish. Often times though I find myself watching two fight cards on a Saturday. Is it the end of the world? No. It is annoying though.
Not so much tonight as not many would have ordered the PPv with Burns being on ss1 but I remember when the revealed the price result. Fortunately I was watching it but was a very poor thing to do. Id it was on their news channel (SSnews) then fine but don't ruin it for the fans.
They are different companies you soppy ****, why should there be a news blackout? Do you want the BBC or ITV not to announce the result because you wanted to watch it later? Twat.
Why? I don't think it's an outlandish complaint or one without merit. Not spoiling the result of a fight taking place at the same time on another network could be considered a simple courtesy to people who are planning to watch both. Surely I'm not the only person who was planning to that. If Sky are going to give out a result then simply give a little warning before doing so. That way people who don't want to know the result can avoid hearing it.
I'm not advocating that there be a news blackout. That would be ridiculous. However, I just think giving a little warning would be a courtesy if on your broadcast you are going to spoil the result of a fight taking place essentially at the same time on another network. Is that an outrageous request? I don't see why you find it so galling and seem provoked to anger by it.
I agree mate. when you have yet to see a fight that has ended it is smart to stay away from the news, forums etc but it should be safe to watch the boxing or as you said the could give you a little warning the same way news channels do when about to read the pools/results.
they've done it before, can't remember which fight it was but i think they apologised after. Boxnation made a bit of a song and dance the next week when a fight was on both channels that they would not reveal results though.
ESPN always give out the scores if they have a late Saturday ko. Does my nut in if I've avoided them for motd but ESPN have got a goals app that they need to sell. At the end of the day they're only interested in their own stuff
