Have heard Maloney wanted to give David Price another tune up/bum before a John McDermott fight in the summer but Sky refused said McDermott fight now or never. good move.
Have nothing against David Price, or Frank Maloney, at all but hope McDermott wins. He is a decent lad who hasn't always had luck on his side.
Excellent news. I posted on Boxrec that Price ought to consider sacking Maloney and guess who replied...... the man himself ''I've got a great track record with heavyweights'' ''It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and think you know it all'' :finger Seems Sky want value for money, fair play.
Yeah, his post to me also said that they had offered the fight to everyone and that nobody would fight him. So I said something along the lines of ''can you really expect us to believe that nobody wants to try and knock over an Olympic medallist on Sky?'' And ''Tony Booth would be unbeaten against that lot'' No reply. It was probably about £7 with a day's notice or something. I like Price, and don't know anyone that doesn't...... but his slate to date is gash, the lad is 27 I think and needs to get a move on.
I think that McDermott can beat Price...:yep Old Man him out of there...:yep Is Towers ready for a shot with Price...:think Is Towers with Hatton...:think
If you cannot bear John McDermott within 1 year or 6 fights as a pro your never going to go beyond European level. he needs to get a move on.
I wouldn't go that far....McDermott is a solid enough fighter... but your general point is correct. Price is obviously more talented but the step up in class is massive.
so Maloney wants another tune up whilst he was quoted on Sky after Price's last fight that he's ready to face any of the top British heavyweights!!
Yup good move by Sky, Out of the up coming british Heavyweight prospects Tom Dallas is the guy i think seems best allround, he seems well balanced, Price stands back alot trying to pot shot too much. Dallas must be given his chance soon.
