That's a difficult fight for Lomachenko. He's coming off a high profile loss and he's had injuries. Nakatani is big for the weight and he had a good fight vs Lopez. Loma is going to have to fight smart in that fight and not try too hard, otherwise he could find things going wrong for him. The fight will tell us more about where he's currently at. I don't hold the Lopez loss against him, he fought well the 2nd half of the fight and caused Lopez a lot of issues and hurt him. People need to remember he really shouldn't even be competing in that weight class, shows you how good he really is.
I think true boxing fans appreciate that Loma joined the pro ranks already at world level and has flown through the weights. It was fairly inevitable he'd end up with, on paper, a modest record numbers-wise.
This was why they never put them on in the first place as they don’t deliver viewers and would eat into the matchroom budget. My guess is Sky are paying peanuts for the event just to get content on board. They will then look to entice top rank for UK shows with Taylor etc
What happened to Top Ranks partnership with Queensbury, surely Taylor v Catterall will be on BT unless Sky are trying to steal that fight and make Taylor their star UK boxer.
About as long as ITV's and PBC's 3 year, 15 cards per year deal that was ended after 7 months and 8 cards.
Yeah that deal was a handshake on the back of Tyson signing with top rank. No official deal. top rank know that Taylor doesn’t sell in the US atm and best option is to milk the cow in the UK. They could actually make waves if they put some effort into it
There’s no actual contract between top rank amd BT Wil be interesting as top rank could build a stable here on that fight. if they don’t promote the fight then Taylor should consider his promotional contraxt as with his status he should by Sky PPV all day long
This is the sort of tweet people who banged on about international fights not being on Sky need to see. It's all well and good expecting Sky and BT to pick up international fights but they need to pay for those rights and if only a small amount of people are watching them then what's the point? If those numbers don't pick up for the top rank cards I see sky ending the deal early.
Eddie Hearn and Adam Smith collaborated for years, cultivating a viewership of subscribers and PPV buyers who believed that the pinnacle of boxing as entertainment amounted to watching fat, juiced up heavyweights like Whyte and Chisora making cnuts of themselves at pressers and putting in mediocre performances in the ring. They now have generation of subs who don't know who Inoue is, let alone appreciate why he is worth watching. They are responsible for those numbers, not the intrinsic lack of appeal of watching Inoue fight. The man should be a global star. Adam Smith has dug a hole for himself and Sky.
Really? But shouldn't there be a significant hardcore element who know who inoue is? Just as with box nation the supposed hardcore wasn't large enough to keep that channel alive. Maybe the sport just isn't big enough for foreign fighters to generate decent TV ratings in the early hours of the morning. It sucks and would be great if the sport was larger but I don't think you can pin this ratings on Eddie Hearn and Adam Smith.
