It's the right decision either way.

But it's only his fault that his body is ****ed and that he can't compete any more.

Does anyone else think that he'll go into a downward spiral?

I really hope not, but all the signs are there..... hitting the bottle constantly and firing the junk food down.

    Yep - I do.

I said a while ago the best thing that could happen to him was a big fight falling through at the last minute. That way he'd train properly and lose weight but wouldn't have to get in the ring. He would then (in an ideal world) think "**** it I didn't like training for this fight, i'll pack it in but now i'm in shape and I know i'm quitting i'll keep up a bit of training and keep some of the weight off"

Was never gonna happen but he will **** himself up, no doubts in my mind :-( Real Shame

No matter what he did in between fights, 31 would have been the right age to retire. Hattons way of fighting is a young mans game, he was never going to box in top level too far into his 30s no matter what he did.

I think theres every chance he'll overdo the eating and drinking, time will tell whether he'll do it to real excess on a long term basis though.

Hatton needs to look after his body for the long term, I fear he could end up with real bad health if he carries on...:yep

Yeah I can see it happening.

Despite all his outward confidence, I think he is mentally very fragile right now, the ego is all a front to mask his frailties.

Not sure whether he will ever be right..... can see a Gazza-type scenario, booze, drugs etc - though he has a stronger family structure than Gazza..... though more hangers on :think

could of prolonged his career if he looked after himself between fights, blowing up inbetween fights the way he did then trying 2 boil down to weight must of took its toll on the body in the end....

As far as his boxing career is concerned I think he got off very lightly with his bingeing lifestyle. Even if he'd had better discipline in between fights he'd have still lost the 2 fights he did lose and 31 would still be a great age to retire.

Professionally I don't think he's paid much of a price at all, his long term health may be a different matter though.....

He'll probably get married in the not too distant future so he might settle down a bit.He said after the Pac fight that he'd get married when he retires

In the past when he blows up he knows that it would only be for a few months and then he'd have to go back to training. That won't be the case in retirement so he might keep an eye on his weight. Then again maybe not

What's the point of coming back? He wouldn't beat Bradley or Alexander, he'd probably get sparked by Khan in two rounds as well. So, 140's out.

He's next to useless at 147, so no point there.

Outside of novelty fights, what's the point?
