This is a great thing for the sport in this country in my opinion.

There's nobody in this country who is PPV worthy anymore. In fact the only British fighter since Bruno to have been PPV worthy was Hatton. He was truly unique in the way his appeal crossed over to the general public, but even then only his Major fights should have been PPV.

On paper, this is great, but in reality could we not end up just as worse off? I'm thinking of Khan, who when Sky wouldn't put him on PPV, went to somebody who would, Primetime. Now we all know how much a certain fish-eyed promoter jizzes himself at the mere thought of a PPV, so when Sky won't put whatever shite he wants on Box Office, maybe he thinks '**** it' and goes to Primetime.

A similar thing could happen with boxers on the way up. They've seen the likes of Lewis, Naz and Hatton on PPV, and perhaps some view it as some kind of big goal to fight there. So much so, that they would (perhaps stupidly) leave the relative comfort of Sky and take a gamble to make some quick cash and feed their ego to go to Primetime?

If a few fighters want to go to PPV looking for short term gain, **** 'em.

It'll just leave more Sky money and exposure for everybody else, which I'm sure they'd gladly take. There'll be a market value for a particular fight and if boxer A won't take it, boxer B most probably will. You've only got to look at Pavlik the Pisshead balking at a $1.5m guarantee despite being in no position to demand anything.

Seems to me that all the major broadcasters are on the same wavelength with this..... now there's been changes at HBO there'll be no pandering to Golden Girl and the rest of the promoters will get a fair crack of the whip for the first time in years.

Other than there being a big announcement of terrestrial coverage over several years it's the biggest and best news boxing could have.

Sky doesn't have the hype machine since they took sky sports news off freeview. Severely limited the number of houses they could pump their adverts in under the guise of news.

This is the fault of the greedy fighters like Khan and Haye and the tosser promoters all asking for too much $$$$$.
Sky didnt help themselves by putting on crappy ppv's like Haye vs Harrison either...this is either gonna go one way or the other...if Primetime put some good shows on and the service is stable they could make a killing and it will give us all some great fights to watch, or and more likely, PPV will die a slow and painfull death in the UK and boxing will suffer a further decline in popularity...
