Any of the top ten 140lb'ers could have chinned Vivian Harris at that point IMO.

His promoter doesn't help either, constantly talking complete bollocks about all his fighters being the next global superstar, when they would fail to fill a phonebox in a thunderstorm.

 

Yeah even though there were ten thousand at the NOttingham arena for that fight against bradley the majority of them where to see froch.:huh

 

This is symptomatic of British knowledge of boxing.

That was shaping up to be a decent bill, with Murray vs Fewkes as well.

Hennessy made out that he was doing the fans a favour by adding Witter vs Bradley - though in his heart he probably remembered the Harris fight and realised that he lost a ****ing fortune staging that show. That gave him a get out should Inkin pull out for a second time (which happened) meaning that he wouldn't have to offer refunds to ticket buyers who wanted to see Froch (as he got in a last minute replacement) and probably didn't even know Witter was on the bill until it was announced as the co-feature!

The two people in British boxing I dislike the most are Junior Witter and Mick Hennessy. Even more than Frank Warren and Enzo Calzaghe.

Now that takes some doing.

 

They have basically picked their fave ten fighters and listed them out in some kind of order.

Put the 20 fighters together and the list wouldn't be all that bad, but there would still be some glaring omissions. I suppose guys like JMM aren't everyones cup of tea, but to exclude him shows your lack of knowledge IMO.

 

More than warren, bleeding hell you do have a bee in your bonnet about witter. But yes he his a *****.

 

I just realised JMM or Vasquez aren't in either list. :yikes

 

Are these the same blokes that do the commentary on Sky Sports fights? Those p4p lists are bizarre to say the least.

 

I suppose there are certain sports people you just don't warm to, such as:

Andrew Flintoff - fraud, two year wonder
Tim Henman - dont even need to explain
Frank Lampard - just a twat
Michael Owen - waaaay overrated
Danny Cipriani - party boy
Lewis Hamilton - by far the worst - really can't stand him

on the flip side, I like the following generally unpopular

Linford Christie
Shane Warne
Alex Ferguson
Andy Farrell - from his league days only!

 

Agree with most but how dare you call freddie maybe that your yorkshire bias coming through. Apart from sidebottom he his probably england's premier bowler. Yes he hit 62 today in a winning team lancs.

 

I have never been a Flintoff fan really, his bowling is excellent but at times you would think he was batting with a snooker cue, and he can't play spinners to save his life!

Not the Yorkshire bias lol, because Michael Vaughan isn't far off the top 5, for the same reason. If ever a guy totally lived off one excellent result/series of results it was him.

**** at ODI cricket, **** against spinners and hasn't done ****all in the subcontinent, yet people think he is a legend!

I could go on and on, ESPN Classic have the 50 most loved sportsmen and 50 most hated (it is a couple of years old though and polled from british fans) and I like most of the hated and hate most of the loved!

I mean, who the **** was eddie the eagle edwards, and why did he merit being loved, yet pete sampras was hated??
