In the last couple of days we've had an article where his dad says he will go on to be better than him and another in which Brook says he will carry the flag for British boxing one day. I have to say, given his most recent win was against a guy who has never beaten anyone who has themselves won a fight, this seems a new level of hyperbole for Sky. I know some think he will actually develop and do well but even so his hype seems a bit over the top, no? I mean, he still hasn't fought a journeyman or area level guy yet. People have made the comparisons between his run and Eubank Jr's but Bradley Pryce and Tyan Booth are a far cry from what Benn has been fighting.
Yeah again it is such a business plot with Benn to the casuals. Don't get me wrong he is good to watch, has that appeal about him. Does he have genuine quality though, we really don't know.
It's successful, the replies to his tweets show that. Just remarkable how easily people can have their opinions formed by Johnny Nelson
I quite like how they've managed to turn this novice who had pretty much no experience into a fairly decent fighter he's not brilliant and I doubt he wins a world title but can see him fighting for the british title in a year or 2s time as long as he sticks with the same trainer and keeps ticking over and they don't force him too soon good luck to him!
Is he a ticket seller? I unfollowed him on twitter a while ago with all his self indulgent nonsense and he def believes his own hype
I think Conor will be a world champion, I honestly do! The kid is only 21 and is in the developmental stage of his career, I see talent in him and I have definitely seen huge improvement. I hate Sky and Matchroom so they are not brain washing me! I think the average forum fan really does seem to hate on these 2nd generation fighters and basically from day 1 have called them overhyped and overrated. Eubank Jr has never been rated here so how could he have been overrated? I have been saying he is underrated for the longest time here and he is just starting to get some belated respect. Comparisons with Eubank Jr aren't really that fair because Conor turned pro a fair bit younger. After 10 fights Jr is miles ahead but @ 21 Jr hadn't debuted. Conor reminds me a lot of his old man
Its a lot of hype for someone who Eddie hearn said next year we should be looking at the southern area title, then onto English... He did look OK but like someone said earlier, he's fighting literal nobodies, let's judge him as and when he steps up.... I hate it when fighters say they've had no amateur experience like its a handicap or something
Matchroom ( and sky) know how to promote their fighters. They do a fantastic job at that. It's part of the business. The sport side of it is different.
At least he beat them 10 bums in a relatively short amount of time (for today's standards), but they were still total bums. He should step up to guys ranked between 500 and 300 next, and when he looks good maybe stepping up a top200 level opponent. Hyping a guy at this stage in ridiculous. There are many boxers all around the world (some not even very good) who would obliterate all his opponents.
I'm with this! I followed him on twitter and instagram when he turned over and now have no interest in him what so ever now. He's constantly banging on about jewelry, cars etc! It's his dads money!! He also has this really bad habit of making out he's had a severe struggle in life, It's not the X factor we don't need these stories from a multi millionaires son. At least when Floyd and AB etc. etc. do it it's their own cash! He's fighting off the back of his name, he is only 21 so he has a chance and will fill out as a welterweight but he's going to have to be managed very well to take him through the levels, put him side by side with Josh Kelly now...
Chris Eubank jr His dad informed this on talk sport a few years ago. Basically said they planned to take time etc but with the hype/or worh EUBANK jr doing well (even though different weight divisions) it made sense to do it now. Think this was before his first fight.
Look at eubank and ask yourself “is it any wonder?” These lads have fan bases before they’ve had a fight. It’s best to utilise it.
At the rate they're pushing him, and with the demand from the public nowadays for fighters to step up, I can see him being exposed before his profile/skills develop.
I think he looks the business. I love his movement and style he's developing. Okay it's against poor opposition but he's put them away with style His online persona I take with a pinch of salt. Hes just a kid rem.
