Fg227 - Can you please add a poll so we can see how many votes BoxNation and Sky sports get? It saves me starting a new thread about the same topic just to add a poll. Cheers.
I Have Al Jazeera Sports so doesn't matter. They show all the big fights for free with BN or Sky commentary depending on who has the rights.
I see BoxNation were showing Calzaghe/Eubank. Good fight from the archives. A good month for Sky with them having Froch and the British HW title fight. Would have been even better with Khan, but such is boxing that things get cancelled.
:deal I think you're probably right mate. When Boxnation started I thought maybe Sky did feel treatened, I'm pretty sure there was an increase in the quality of Ringside, and they seemed to add new elements to the live boxing ie improved prefight analysis and more eye catching graphics. However, the fact that they have now cut their output by 50% and are concentrating primarily with just the one promoter, suggests to me they don't actually give a toss!
The Khan ringside special, probably better than any Bunce boxing hour, the Froch countdown shows, the Sugar Ray Leonard special. Am pretty sure they care. Not sure where you are getting the 50 per cent statistic from either?

"spending is being reduced to meet the cost of football and F1 coverage" Yeah, they don't seem to care that much about boxing...
Not sure if you've read through the whole article? :huh 'Sky Sports confirmed yesterday that they are focusing on quality rather than quantity when the new boxing schedule for the broadcaster is confirmed in July, with 40 fight nights expected to be reduced to twenty boxing events. It will not just be UK promoters, Sky will show more events from the United States, alongside an enhanced role for the big names from British boxing, a spokesperson for Sky Sports told The Telegraph. It is understood that those big names will include Amir Khan and Carl Froch. Sky Sports have claimed that spending is being reduced to meet the cost of football and F1 coverage.' This was also confirmed in an article in Boxing News a fortnight a go. Hope this provides clarification? :good
The rolling month thing with Boxnation won't last long as they are bringing in a subscription fee of £20. I just e-mailed them to unsubscribe and they replied that to if I were to re subscribe this charge would be in place
Not really. The 20 fight nights fact is an assumption by the journalist. By the sounds of the article, there will US coverage, rather than some small hall shows. A reduction in spending, we are in a recession after all, does not necessarily mean a huge reduction in the coverage.
:admin Silly move IMO...... This will really put alot of people off, people were struggling with the idea for £10............ THis is bad timing if true, they should gradually increase the cost (not 100%!) once it has a decent subscriber base that realise that its good value with an increase, I don't believe they have that yet. IMO this will just increase the amount of casual subscribers.
