Admittedly could have stuck this on the numerous matchroom / purdy threads, but this could be quite an interesting battle for viewers on Saturday. - How many people with access to both will actually watch channel 5's show? - How many who dont have access to sky will watch it elsewhere (mates, pub etc ) I have recently got sky sports back so prob will watch the sky event. it helps that it is on first 8pm, had they both started at 8 or 9 it may have been different. Also, despite the cards being similar in quality (IMO) I do prefer sky's production, it is a lot better to be fair. It's like comparing the sky darts to the darts on itv4 recently or even worse, the bdo world championship on bbc. i do like the pundits, and even though the card is now pretty poor with darren barker headlining they will build it up and make it seem more interesting than it normally would. i personally think the degale fight is the best one in england this weekend. I think i will watch the sky card from 8pm - 12, then sky+ the channel 5 card and watch straight after, fastforwarding all the breaks during the rounds. Also, i would imagine richie woodhall will be on sky this weekend? he seems to be all over the place that lad - sky, channel 5, primetime. fair play to him, he is a decent co-commentator. what will you be watching?
i was going to the matchroom card but i am calling to get a refund today. the two best fights have been cancelled and i am friends with evangelou who is not of the bill. was going to be my leaving party with my mates before i leave for the US next week. so bitterly disappointed.
I was going to watch Sky. Channel 5 only has the DeGale but Sky had Barker and Purdy vs Jones. Guttered that fights off. Not sure who I'm watching now, probably still be Sky. It's because if I watch Channel 5 I'll have to put up with **** commentators and also have to see Mick Hennessy's stupid face.
will watch sky for the kessler fight poss barker also, and shall record 5 show if degale would of been on before, obv sky production is better they got more cash to throw at it
sky's on from 8pm-12 mate, channel 5 is 10pm-12, as they finish at the same time you're gonna watch one or the other, so i would say it is fairly direct competition
Boxing on primetime starts at 5:30pm with the free Goodwin Promotions card, so you can watch that, switch over to 5/sky later and then back to Primetime at midnight for 24/7 Pac v Marquez and then the PPV starting at 2am - great night of boxing all round!
I think there is something like seven shows in the UK on Saturday, three in Yorkshire alone. This either shows the sport is in a lot better health than many here think, or Promoters are stupid/greedy.
