I like Watt most times. He needs a good straight man in the act though, and the British options are shocking for that.
This comment made me think about how dire the ITV coverage of football is. You've got Southgate and Dixon both churning out the same old **** and then Chiles asking questions in his typical tedious manner. Adding Roy Keane to the panel made a big improvement on the quality of the punditry because at least you can get a different opinion from him whilst everyone else will toe the line. The commentary is awful too, with the unfunny, desperate Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend, who knows nothing about anything. Compare that to Sky, with some of the pundits and commentators they have. It's not perfect but it's far better than what ITV have. It makes the overall product seem so much better. You're right about the difference in knowledge between ESB posters and these supposed experts too. I don't know how entertaining it'd be on TV, but I have absolutely no doubt that posters like yourself, TFFP, SkillsPayBills etc., are more knowledgeable than the former fighters who are employed by Sky. In terms of reading a fight, predicting a bout, post-fight analysis and knowledge of international fighters, it's not even close. I think if you asked someone like McCrory or Nelson to break down someone like Golovkin, I think they'd struggle to get beyond the basics of what everyone in boxing knows, such as he has power etc.. I remember the recent comments about Leo Santa Cruz being particularly ignorant too. I quite like a few of the Sky team, I just don't think they're any good at their job. I don't think Jim Watt is a good commentator, because he can't read fights, score a bout and he's not entertaining to listen to. I don't think Adam Smith is a good presenter because he's got the personality of a block of Red Leicester. I don't think Johnny Nelson is a good pundit because he's too nice, which seems to limit his analysis. I could go through the entire team but, yeah, whilst a lot of them seem like pretty decent people, I just don't want them on TV. They're poor at their jobs.
Problem is they have become lazy and too comfortable and the product shows it. The pundits are so sloppy and half asleep. It needs freshening up. McRory always needs a coffee whenever I see him. There are lots of people on this forum who could do a better job, none more so than Rob and myself. The perfect match, ying/yang, love/hate. Everybody alive on planet earth will stop whatever it is they are doing, pick up the remote and change the channel when we are on. Punch and Judy TV. Eddie's the greatest! **** OFF! No you **** off! No you! So Roberto back to the boxing, what do you think of the fight? Well the purse bids were a joke and Frank should be hung for selling tickets to shows subject to change. Oh and Eddie's the greatest. Great analysis on the fight there Rob, anything else to add? Yes, Eddie is the greatest. ...... Sorry we interrupt this program please bare with us.
