Skys judging was absymal yet again!

To be fair to Sky, I think they would normally have gone for Haye, but they were scoring German Style - ie if you KO your opponent you deserve a draw

 

Was it Darke there tonight? From the little I saw of his chatter, he made the point that you can't reward Valuev for just throwing when he's completely ineffective. Watt clearly had an agenda against Haye when he spoke on the countdown show this morning. He just doesn't like the guy, because he doesn't fight in a textbook manner.

Good point man, forgot about this. The fact that Watt was questioning his corners strategy was unbelievable, seeing as how they got it just right. Imagine if thye told him to do more and he then gets carried away and gets caught..

 

Watt will ALWAYS score for a guy who uses his jab. It's like it's all he sees. If there's a jab, even if it's hitting thin air, he will make out you are the second coming of Ray Leonard.

 

Did Valuev even land a glove on Haye, I knew this fight was going to plan out like that.... I was shouting at the TV for Haye to commit himself because Valuev is absoultly useless, He could of got Valuev out of there any time he wanted to but i think he was scared in case he got caught by a big daft clumsy right hand of Valuev because Haye has no chin what so ever.... He made Valuev look stupid but he could of knoocked him out if he stepped it up more... He will smash Ruiz but a think the Klitchkos will beat him.

 

maybe they knew Haye wasn't gonna be with them for long, there wasn't that "house" fighter feel.

 

Jim Watt's argument was that Valuev was throwing punches, and should therefore be rewarded, and that Haye was being 'negative' and therefore shouldn't be rewarded.

What Jim's bull**** theory fails to recognise is that Haye's speed was causing Valuev to MISS his punches!!

Surely he should get some credit for that?

Not in Jim Watt's book!

 

Watt was simply pointing out that Haye's tactics & workrate probably wouldn't impress the judges in Germany, which incidentally was what half the twats on these forums were waffling on about before the fight.

 

Watt is a terrible commentator and judge. He takes into account possible bias the judges might have, and puts down what he thinks they might have. He gave Valuev rounds simply coz he thought the home judges would have. He did the same thing when Colin Lynes was robbed in Italy!

Haye was the one landing more punches, Valuev hardly landed a glove on him.

 

They were scoring as if they were hometown judges, which is ******ed.

The panel back in the studio really had a downer on the result and performance, Nicky Piper is like the slightly less obnoxious one on Top Gear repeating what the other ones say and never expresses a firm opinion. He is truly awful.

5 Live Mick Costello this morning praised the achievement, called it right and sounded pissed off that so many other British media had it for Valuev scoring on the 'what would a bias judge score' basis.

 

I have a lot of time for Watt, and I thought he was spot on, Haye seemingly was not working hard enough to gain a decision in Germany.

But hindsight shows Watt and myself wrong, I guess in part because this fight was seen worldwide rather than just what you use to here on wire, the Germans knew the fight had to be on the level for their own credibility.

Also, although promoted by Germans, it helped that Valuev was not German.
