What a ridiculous way to score a fight that is. I've already found myself arguing with several casuals over the fight. Thanks to Watt and co, they're all convinced that Valuev was robbed and Haye was rubbish. Just what the hell is going here? This is ridiculous.
There actually seems to be a fair bit of that going on with other rbr reports too, it's making it frustrating to get an overall picture because they're going 'quiet round so the judges will give that to Valuev.' Thankfull I watched the fight so I know Haye deserved it. But anyone who hasn't is going to see what they want to see.
jim watt's a plamf, and must be sacked, for bending the minds of non boxing fans tuning into big shows like that, ****in rediculous, good on darke for pointing that out all the same :good
I'm going to have to watch this fight again sober because it did look to me like Val did enough to win. I seem to be in the minority
Michael Woods at the sweet science thought it was a robbery. But his opinion is often complete nonsense based on his emotions rather than what he saw.
i thought Jims scoring was fair enough the rounds were hard to score honestly it could have been 118-110 Haye 118-110 Valuev 114-114 and noone could have complained
I was scoring it as I thought they might mainly to give myself a better gauge of what the result may be. But I feel if I re-scored for what I like Haye may be up. But his total inactivity in a few rounds made it closer than it needed to be, Valuev was blowing hard from the 9th, I suppose with the knowledge of the 12th round it's easier to say now, but Haye couldve stopped him. Brilliant gameplan though.
I think with british shows we need someone at ringside who isn't commentating to score the fight like HBO do with Lederman. Commentators and studio guests scores are often different and this is because when commentating you cant concentrate 100% on the fight. You may be looking at the fight all the time but your total concentration is not on scoring the fight. Your concentration is divided between scoring the fight, saying what is happening in the ring and analysing what the two fighters are and aren't doing. I even find myself that i do a better job of scoring a fight if i watch the fight alone rather than watching it with friends were my concentration is often distracted by an idiotic question.
When it flashed Watts card up after about 7-8 rounds and I looked at mine, I was wondering wtf was going on ... that's probably what swayed me in the middle rounds into thinking there might not be enough action from Haye to take the title. I think Watts was a bit biased in this one and he was influencing the opinion of others as well as the viewers.
Kind of ironic, you'd think on a website called 'The Sweet Science' they'd appreciate the art of hitting and not being hit. Sure Haye didn't 'hit' much, but he definitely hit more. I think some people are just butt-hurt they got this one so wrong. They were convinced Haye was NOT supposed to have either the chin or gas tank to go 12 rounds with Valuev. People would often rather some up with excuses that admit failure. Dan Rafael on ESPN is another guy that got it totally wrong, but instead of a dignified congrats I'm expecting a moany diatribe about it being a robbery etc. We'll see.
Just watching the fight again and I can't believe that Jim Watt between rds 10 & 11 says that "I said during the build up to the fight, that did they (David Hayes team) really believe that they could come here and win the fight or did they come for a big purse", that is an absolutely outrageous thing to state and tells you exactly what he thinks of Haye.

i was part drunk/high, and felt haye could have been 2 rounds up, then thought at times both fighters didn't deserve shyt.. Valuev kept coming forward, putting pressure, so he won those rounds.. the last round got me excited and made me upset due to the late onslaught..great anti-climax and ending to the event..
It is an absolutely ridiculous idea to judge a fight based on how a corrupt judge may be scoring it ffs. The media should slaughter biased judging, not legitamise it by reporting on fights through the eyes of a biased judge.
