Pernell used it when he clowned Julio Chavez right before the very eyes of his beloved Mexican followers. Bernard used it when he took Felix's soul straight out of heavily rican populated New York. $ used it when he killed Hatton and shipped that boy back across the Atlantic in a body bag in front of all the british witnesses. ricans and brits thought they were cute booing the US anthem. Bernard and Floyd Jr thought otherwise. Bernard and Floyd are Gs.

YES!!! Yes!!! Dope Leon. All Truths my brother. Hopkins 2001 soul destruction at MSG can never be erased.
it s way of fighting right? it focuses a lot of defense (slipping punches, rolling with them, etc). whitaker embodies that school. mayweather too. it has a lot to do with reflexes and speed. i wouldnt call bernard hopkins a slick fighter. i dont know what the **** he's talking about.
i wouldnt call him slick. he knows tricks and ****, but his whole style is relatively basic. that s just me though. meldrick taylor from philly was slick.
I say BS. Slick and slippery and Pac has not experienced it yet from our african-american brothers exception made for Joshua Clottey... Just hype to promote upcoming Pac fights who look one-sided from the onset. You need more than slip this guys punches and counter him every time to beat him, you need to beat him athletically too! Or else you "school" him for 3 rounds and he takes the others. Bernard, Pernell, Ali, Mayweather, those are all very different fighters but they have a very good defence in common. I seriously doubt defence is the key to beat a full frontal attack from Pac.
Just another term for the defensive cuties we've seen for a long long time. We've seen the same moves from plenty of other boxers from different races(albeit not recently, in the last 50 years). This style with the turn of the century counterpunchers like Johnson, Gans, etc. These guys hit hard and were defensively adept with good outboxing and distance maintaining skills. Arguably i'd say we saw a lot more white guys using elements of this "style" in the next 10-15 years after that, Leonard, Britton, Ross, Canzoneri, McFarland etc etc... But we did see Kid Chocolate use a very similar style with lots of slips and shoulder rolls and blocking, very much a predecessor to the "SBAS". Then we cut to the 50's and guys like Moore, Walcott, Charles, Bivins, Johnson, Marshall, Williams, etc... These guys defined and exhibited this style better than anyone else. Then we have guys going on from there with slick and smooth defensive styles but just not executed the same. Most of the versions you see today just have elements of the style, or are complete like Mayweathers but lacking in some of the more refined points of the defensive, mobile counterpuncher. Hops is about as slick as Harold Johnson. Some creative and smart defensive moves, but his real strength comes from his thorough understanding of the fundamentals and great ability to apply them.
Taking away a fighters best skill set and using it against them with out getting hit ain't slick ? Liver shot to ODLH knocking him out dead on the canvas. Stopping the unstoppable Glen Johnson ? having the edge in two fights vs Roy Jones Jr ? Schooling Pavlik, Winky retiring Tito ? Even his entrance song is one of the slickest things since 1953.
