Who can outbox Tua, cleanly, over 12 or more rounds? Points for smallish fighters

It's interesting because with Tua one second of error can end the fight, so for 36 minutes you need to use ring generalship, be aware, keep Tua away.

Moorer and Ruiz were both decent enough boxers and both couldn't stay away for more then a round.

Freq Osquendo might be the most awkward heavy of the 90's. Tua got to him.

Could Billy Conn do it? Who else?

Prime tua, i'd say the power would get to conn eventually, if he tasted that hook its gonna decapitate a small fighter like conn. Its a good question, i'm going away to have a think...

    chris byrd

walked into his right and stopped all the worries about the left hook. popped a jab when ever david came in. then when on the sinde clinched onto the left arm and banged left up[percuts to the body.maybe the best display i have ever seen from chris byrd.

i know thats no what you wated but i just threw it in.

    james toney
great counter right hand great defence nice left hook. and a decent size for tua to not get his shots off.

Even more amazing that Byrd pulled that performance off right off one of his close friends dying. He was crying during the post fight interview.

He hurt Tua to the body bad. Tua couldn't even lift his arms in one round, he was literally huffing with his mouth open trying to get air.

    Must of hurt like hell.

Be honest, do you really see Tua landing accumulation of heavy shots on a peak Walcott? I can't envisage such a senario really.

Whilst he ain't as mobile as a, say Tunney, Walcott presents all sorts angles, fients and would use his fantastic movement and footwork to set Tua up will all sorts of shots Tua wouldn't see coming. Tua would struggle against the better technicians in history, Walcott is one of the finest ever.

sometimes somthing terirble and important to you can galvanise yourself to win.

yeah it was about round 6. a time when tua knew he wasnt going for a points decision and knew he had alot of time to search for a ko. after a left hook, right hand, left hook chris slipped the right hook and landed a left uppercut to the body and tua just froze and in like a split second you had byrd and tua staring at each with chris knowing he had hurt him...

here is the point that your talking about with tua not able to lift his arms 1:43
    [yt]qL5dqopVA0k[/yt]

2:28 onwards i think is when tua was REALLY hurt almost lost his legs

    Some food for thought,

    Izon outboxed Tua
    Oleg outboxed Tua
    Jeff fu**in Wooden outboxed Tua

As a matter of fact , if you have a ok jab and don't gas out you got the Tuaman beat.

He eventually caught them late but if he does not land his trademark left hook he is done in for.

Conclusion : extremely limited who, similar to Golata, Ruddock etc got a lot of mileage from loosing fights aka " could would maybe will "

Outboxing Tua is one thing, a good consistant jab and movement will be good enough for that. The problem, as said, is that Tua can carry his power through to the last round so you also need the stamina and the focus to keep it going.

Personally...I don't think Tua likes it to the body, it's just that people rarely attack him there. Byrd hurt him as shown above, and a few digs from Lewis to the body really seemed to unsettle him as well.

You fail to mention that Wooden was a southpaw, a spoiler, and also went to a SD with a 22-0 Micheal Grant who outweighed him by over 30 pounds.

Michael Grant was a dude who watched a fight and thought " I can do that ", he looked sloppy and easily hittable against journeyman and once he remotely stepped up he got exposed. There is nothing in that guys career noteworthy, well, maybe if he would have started fighting at a young age not as a adult. Not a good example and Jeff Wooden is still a poster child for the bum of the month club.
