It simply wasn't in Jackson's nature to ever stop trying for the knock out as he felt he would be robbed in decisions. Floyd may beat him, but not because Jackson would shell up.

McClellan hit Jackson right off the bat in round one, hurting him and winning Gerald the round. Jackson never stopped throwing punches, but he would against Mayweather's brittle lead right hand?

McClellan continued to do this and Jackson never stopped going after him, as you said was why he got knocked out, but he would against Mayweather....?

    Got it.

You can find fifty examples of guys holding back in one way or another on Floyd’s resume. Maybe Jackson would be the guy to finally figure out that you can just walk through Floyd’s punches.

    Jose Baret.

Couldn't remember the name. Jackson lost representing his country to that guy in the amateurs and vowed he'd always go for the knockout even if that meant getting obliterated.

    McClellan obliged.

This would end up being a pretty lopsided fight in favor of Floyd. Jackson is gonna get severely outboxed and he won’t be able to land that dynamite punch on a smart elusive fighter like Mayweather.

Unless Jackson gets lucky he gets stopped late. He is too one paced and easily out boxed to do this job. As he attacks he will walk into a storm of leather. Cuts might do it

If Floyd doesn’t get hit with too many shots he schools Jackson. If he takes a few direct bombs to the chin he might get knocked out

Agreed - This is lost on some people, you can’t walk through punches the way people imagine. All Mayweather has to do is make Jackson blink or consider how many shots he can take he had plenty enough pop to garner the respect of everybody he fought, Jackson may not stop trying but it isn’t like he can just eat his punches poised and wing a right or something lol.

Funny because as fast as Terry Norris was,and he was one of the faster jr.middleweights, Jackson found him ONCE and laid him out.

Jackson in his prime threw very compact combinations often mixing it up to the head as well as the body. And he had pretty quick hands.
People are acting like Jackson is a face first fighter.

Terrible Terry was a hell of a fighter for sure, however, I don't think that Terry Norris is an exemplary case study for ring IQ or defense.

Norris was an explosive power puncher who got clipped many times as a result of his offense heavy style. Mayweather has only been stunned OR pushed hard like 5 times--Judah, Maidana, Mosley, Castillo, and maybe Augustus or Corley. Norris does not have as sterling a ring record despite his immense talent and success and status as a truly elite 154'lber. I also think Norris would be a harder matchup for Floyd than Jackson due to his speed, skills, variety of punches and overall nasty attitude.

I also believe that Canelo that fought Floyd would have smoked Julian as well. The difference between generationally very good fighters and great fighters is pretty big.

Floyd but at the same time if he gets sparked like in the Mosley fight it's simply game over

I promise you Jackson would have taken Canelos head off - Jackson is power Canelo had never faced at jr.middleweight.
Terry was not on the same level as a Mayweather defensively but be was probably a little faster in hand and foot speed.
Not sure how that match up would have gone - can see Mayweather catching Terry with a right-hand and finishing Terry whose chin was not the best but I can see Terry hurting Mayweather with his speed and power making Mayweather hesitate to throw punches.

Yeah, let’s just erase 24 rounds with GGG.
