Against Carl Froch Direll purposely slipped 5 times when he was in danger of receiving a bomb. At the beginning of the fight with Abraham he immediatelly slipped and complained of slippery surface. When Abraham was trying to knock him out in the 11th he slips on purpose to avoid getting knocked down. I noticed similar tactic by Corey Spinks against Mayorga and Zahir Raheem against Freitas. It seems to be a good tactic against big punchers.
...This poor kid could've had a career ending or life ending injury from this. Was that part of his tactic too?
and when he slipped in the 7th round in the very same corner on the very same logo. . . that was on purpose too right? Or was the corner men cleaning up the sore asses of all the excuse makers after their man lost his his fight???? I dunno
Look I gave you examples of other fights when this tactic was applies. I am not saying that he planned to get a DQ win. I do not think he faked the injury, the punch was legit and he was defensless. All I'm saying that it is a good tactic for huge punchers to be prepared to slip on purpose when being in danger. He didnt do it in other fights because he want facing big punchers, he did it in Froch and Abraham fights quite a lot. The two other examples also include big punchers in Mayorga and Freitas.
well i dunno dude. . try sliding across them logos in felt bottom shoes on tired legs and see what happens. Its embarrassing to slip and slide all over the ring lol. . i doubt they intentionally do it to the point that its incorporated into their strategy
Have you seen the replay? He almost does a split, leaving himself defensless in front of a bullrushing Arthur Abraham and you think he did it on purpose?
Im an abraham fan but that post is stupid, it didnt look on purpose to me and even if it was on purpose and he was acting in my oppinion abraham knew exactly what he was doing throwing that punch he knew dirrell was already on the floor. If dirrell is slipping on purpose then thats the refs job to stop him it doesnt mean abraham has the right to hit him when hes on his arse
Yea I have. He does that quite a lot. He was in the corner and Arthur was ready to deliver punches. When he slips, the ref will come rule it a slip, give him 5 seconds to catch a breath and they continue in the center of the ring again. If the punch connects when he slips the ref will rule it a slip (the ref already ruled a slip a clean KD by Abraham). This has nothing to do with the follow up punch that was delivered when he was down, which was illegal because he was clearly down when the shot was delivered.
??? How many times do I have to say that it has nothing to do with the follow up punch which was illegal and unnecessary. I am not saying that Direll cheated. All I'm saying is that it is a good tactic against big punchers .
its best to ignore. people like this have never boxed or spent a day in their life in the gym . this is just some 14 year old, 3rd world kid with 3rd world intellect, kid who spends time on mummies laptop. you wouldnt argue with a kid on the bus about an issue- why stop and speak here. move on people, nothing to see here.
Exactly. The dude's off his head. 99% non-athletes on ESB. Don't know **** about anything. Slipping as a purposeful tactic .. :rofl
Are you an athlete? Ok how many times has Direll slipped in this fight and Froch fight. 7 times I believe and thats a fact, so at the very least you have to admit that the guy often slips or has slippery shoes. Coincidence that other slicksters (Spinks and Raheem) slipped many times against big punchers (Mayorga, Freitas) ? The slipping obviously helps him. He is facing big puncher and using his athleticism, speed and reflexes he manages to avoid most exchanges but not all, sometimes he gets trapped in the corner and has to absorb some punches. If he slips, then the referee has to call a halt and he gets a few seconds of a breather plus the action is back in the center of the ring and the other guy has to reset. If he gets caught by one of the punches but slips at the same time then the ref wont call it a KD but a slip.
