how many champions can u name that were slow starters and got tougher as the fight went on for the win? ie marciano.
These answers are somewhat no-brainers, but nonetheless: Chavez Frazier JMM Morales Dempsey (kidding)
Holyfield. Although tough from the beginning i always felt he upped his workrate as the rounds went on. (not counting old holy) Froch - always wearing people down, good workrate that keeps going till the end
Holy-Bowe II is a great example of Peak Holy getting better & stronger as the war got longer. I wouldn't say he exactly started slow, but i see your point that he put even more effort in later down the stretch.
Dennis Andries was a terrible starter. Hagler was tagged with it as well, but best not tell the Motor City Cobra or Caveman Lee...
Mike Weaver usually Sleepwalked at the first bell, to such an extent, he got Jumped by Dokes and Bonecrusher and suffered a quick dismissals (Albeit Joey Curtis deserves some Mention in the Dokes Affair !)
Many of the great 15 round fighters...those that traveled that route so well, were wisely slow starters.
Emile griffith was never in a hurry in those early rounds of the 15 rounders that he fought in...in fact, he was something of a specialist in going the distance.
