He was getting hit with Margarito's money punch ... He put me under the impression that he's going to taste alot of those come the 26th ...

 

Like the avatar by the way ... but i'm wondering what fighter has tried to hit Cotto with uppercuts?

 

Man you took the word right out of my mouth ... that was the same thing I told to the Calzaghe fans when he fought Hopkins ... of course thats a different scenario but in a way ... Cotto fans see a serious threat going up against their favorite fighter ... we're all under the impression that Margarito has a granite chin, yet he hasn't been hit by a powerful guy on the elite level ... we're under the impression that Marrgarito is strong, yet he hasn't knocked anyone out of elite status ...
We're under the impression that he's a tough rugged fighter who can fight at a high rate for 12 rounds, yet he hasn't been in there with a guy with savvy and a mean body attack.

 

That actually is a very good argument because as good as Margarito's chin is, I can honestly say I have also never seen him bothered seriously by a body shot. Any shot to the head or the body seems to just make him fight harder. I think margo's chin will be the deciding factor if Cotto decides to brawl. He can outbox him, but he will have to use his legs for the full 12 rds because if he punches of his feet then he is not getting the KO.

 

We're not under the impression that Margarito has a granite chin. It's quite obvious actually. Clottey, Wiliams, and Cintron hit him with everything, but the kitchen sink and he hardly even wince. Out of the 3, you can atleast say that Cintron hits harder than Cotto and Margo was hit flush with some pinpoint punches. He also went 12 rds with williams with a high workrate, but basically blew it by starting out too slow. I don't think people are worried about Cotto facing Tony. I think they pretty much write Margarito off when he is definitely the most dangerous opponent Cotto will face.

 

Those guys you named were power sluggers and in the case of Cintron - he gets discouraged against fighters who can take his power ... his power was overrated considering that he got his clout for knocking people out by knocking out tomato cans.

Margarito was hurt against Santos off a body shot and i'm sure that his body will be eye level with Cotto and its going to be like target practice.

I hope Cotto opens up with that straight jab to the belly ...

I feel that Cotto is the superior boxer and should probably outbox this guy ... the closer the fight is here ... the more i'm leaning towards Cotto.

I still think Margarito is a product of media hype ...

 

Im a little worry myself with Margaritos uppercuts but hey, i put my money on Cotto, he will be ready the day of the fight

Those body shots would hurt ANYBODY. You obviously haven't been hit to the body m8, or else you would not say something like this. Margo has already been "bothered" by a body shot. One thrown not nearly as well as cotto's. :hi:

 

Thats what i'm thinking ... I see Margarito as a tree with arms and legs ready to get chopped down.

 

Margarito haven't :nono tasted bodyshots like the ones that Cotto will give him.

 

PRproud ... his body is going to be at eye level with Cotto anyway ... its going to be like target practice.
