Smaller ATG of any era who could have fought and beat a bigger ATG by convincing decision or even KO... who would you pick?

I was looking for a much larger span of weight class... like a WW vs LHW or even HW... in other words... a fight that wouldn't get sanctioned.

Well, Duran did beat Leonard. So there you go.

Sam Langford is probably the best guy to go for here though.

Duran and Mosley are the same size..both best weights were LW.

WW SRL would have still decisioned a MW Hagler IMO.

Yeah, but Mosley was a huge lightweight, who got to weigh-in under different rules, and would rehydrate overnight to 150 lbs.

I think it's fair to say that Mosley was the physically larger guy.

Duran was exactly a "small" lightweight himself. He would cut a lot of weight as well to weigh in at 135, I think on fight night Mosley would likely outweigh by 5 pounds at most

And honestly at 135 I personally wouldnt favor ANYONE over duran. Duran was ****ing armageddon at lightweight

I don't think it's a huge difference, but I think Mosley was a bigger guy.

And I think Duran was good enough to overcome it and beat Mosley (and damn near any LW). I haven't seen enough of fighters like Ike Williams and Benny Leonard, but of all the LWs I've seen, the guy who I'd give the best chance of beating Duran there would be Whitaker. That's a very close, competitive matchup IMO.

When he was younger I dont think he was. When he wasnt indulging as much, was more focused and had a better metabolism..I mean he was coming in at 140 within a couple of weeks of having a lightweight fight, which makes me think he really wasnt walking around that big.

OH, thats a hell of a pick. Whitaker is the most hellish style matchup for Duran imaginable. I'd still favor Duran, but thats a 55/45 fight in my opinion. Whitaker would be frustrating him all night long with his movement and counters
