It has nothing to do with punching power. Physics tells us that the same force applied by a smaller surface area results in greater power than by being dispersed over a greater surface area... whilst... were a fist considered a projectile the greater mass would provide more kinetic energy...

I think guys who look like their fists are swinging at the end of a pendulum have more power. that's just my impression. guys whose punches "lock" as they follow through

I saw a heavyweight on a fight card in Oklahoma City and he had huge hands. My friend wrapped his hands and they wouldn't fit inside the gloves. Had to snip the seam, right at the top of the laces, in the palm of the gloves.

At the hall of fame they have plaster casts of heavyweight hands, and Listons are huge, bigger than all by far, but Valuevs were not yet there.

I’m beginning to think we can’t trust these guys measurements. They’re all over the place.

I think Gerry Cooney's hands were fairly small especially for such a tall guy with terrific power.

There's a million and one factors that go into natural punching power, your size, weight of your hand, fast twitch fibers, and body leverage are all one of them, it' very mysterious though, the hardest hitting human being ever was a 6 foot even 211lbs man named earnie shavers. even the legendary trainer teddy atlas believes your born with it and can't really develop it.

Grapefruit that is a very good post!\
I believe you can maximize it within limits, but most all HWs especially try to with practice.
How much you commit to power & speed are also factors...
But some produce more of their power THROUGh speed-Tyson, Dempsey, Louis...

Also, it would be very hard to have small hands compared to an average man if you are ~ 6 % a 1/2 feet tal;. Small compared to your height & other tall HWs, yes.
Even Trump at 6' 2" has avergae hands.

Lewis at 12" fists? I do not believe that.
When Grant, who was 6' 7", complained about the glove size before their fight saying it was too small, Lewis challenged him to hold up his hand to his, then said "The same".
And his wingspan is a coool 7', or 84". Hard to reach that with stumpy hands.

Rahman's must have been larger, part of his disproportionate but Manny Steward is exxagerating.
