    Good post. :good
Dempsey was actually quite rangy, lithe build, with long arms. He had reach. And he was incredibly fast on his feet.

I dont see why people lump him in with the short-armed 5'10 Marciano, who had moderate foot speed.

Maybe Marciano was just as good and just as great, but in terms of physical dimensions and attributes, and even their style, they were worlds apart.

Marciano and Dempsey aren't alike at all.
It's because they're the two best white heavyweights that they get lumped together

    Sigh.

Justify it any which way you'd like, even with the pre-school "no u don't know anything about the sport" which you were just called out on.

Two posters consecutively called you out, and were literally jaw dropingly awed by the comment you made.

By the way, you want a ****ing example of why a middleweight isn't stopping a man who's only been stopped by massive, 225-250 pound men at heavyweight?

Hopkin's has not stopped an opponent since 2005.

Let me repeat that for you. Two thousand and five.

His record since 2003 11-3, with ONE knockout. Those knockouts coming against a man who started his career as a super featherweight with a possibly phony body shot.

Seriously, a simple scan at his record after a two second google scan should be enough for you. You're wrong. Get over it.

Here's another little tidbit for your choo choo train of ignorance express.

In what many feel to be Hopkin's best, most complete performance, he stopped a career long welterweight through accumulation.

He literally landed several dozen flush punches on him, and couldn't even come close to truly knocking him out.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

He beat on William Joppy until he looked like a ****ing space alien, his face was so deformed. Tons of flush punches. No stoppage.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

He landed a ungodly amount of flush punches on Kelly Pavlik. Couldn't even floor him.

Mhm yes he could most certainly stop a 240-250 pound man.

The mere thought of B-Hop being able to stop Wlad is lunacy.

Please to keep "unlish"ing your moronicisms. Humor makes for good medicine in these hard times.

Your like a broken record. it's really pathetic. Your definition of a "good" styles matchup are often different from the consensus for what actually is a good style matchup. Your bias judgement clouds your mind.

3 very unspectacular fighters. The fact you mention Morris is laughable. He was no better than 6'5 220lb Johnny Skhor, a giant Marciano destroyed.

Marciano's physical limitations allowed him to become more effective. His use of leverage enhanced, against the big guys he could get really low and ackward in his crouch making himself a smaller target. Dempsey fought too straight up at times, and kept his left hand very low, which is why he was often tagged with big right hands his whole career. Dempsey did prove himself a faster, more explosive starter than Marciano. But so what. Is the only way to beat the big guys by blasting them out early? Their are plenty of other ways. I think Marciano is more versatile in that regard.

You say he wore down cruiserweights. That may be so. But research indicated he did more than that. He knocked out # 2 rated contender Joe Louis, who was 6'2 214lb. He also knocked out respectable journeyman like 6'5 220lb Johnny Skhor, and perhaps his most devastating victory came at the hands of 6'4 Carmine Vingo, whom he seemed to have no trouble reaching his head for a brutal knockout hook.

Dempsey did defeat more rated big men..but honestly, imo, the big men during Dempsey's era were very unimpressive on film. A 1951 Joe Louis, imo, showed far more skill and technique than Firpo, Old Willard displayed. I think a 1951 Joe Louis beats any of the big men Dempsey fought.

I think Marciano showed the ability to get past a 6'2 200lb + world class jab in the louis fight. Louis still had a great left jab in 1951. I don't think Dempsey was ever challenged by a good left jab by a bigger man. Too me, Marciano is more proven in that regard...

    On the contrary,

There is no film evidence to suggest he couldn't overcome such advantages.

In the film we do have, Marciano takes apart # 2 rated contender Joe Louis. Louis was 6'2 214lb...which indicates Louis held considerable size advantages. Like I said above, Louis imo had far more skill than any 200lb + fighter Jack Dempsey fought. Again, just my opinion.

Then again, let's wait to hear HEgrant write off Rex Layne, but then describe Luis Firpo as a "Murderous" fighter.

I never said nothing about stoppage. I was saying that they have a slight chance to WIN. My fault that I didn't precised it. But nevertheless you and seamus act like bunch of dorks. Keep fightin' keyboard warriors :good

Brewster. Maybe/possibly prime Tyson. No one smaller than Tyson stops Wladimir.

Probably a hard-hitting light heavyweight, someone like Foster, Fitzsimmons etc, if they landed a good combo of flush punches and then followed up. I don't think either would have much of a chance vs Vitali thought, who has an excellent chin.

Dempsey and Marciano at 185-ish certainly hit no less hard than Puritty, Brewster, and Sanders.

I think there's a very slight chance that a hard-hitting MW like Ketchel might be able to stop Wlad, if he gets lucky.

If Wlad gets cut then even a welter could win by TKO if he can avoid being knocked out for the full 12 rounds. It's unlikely but it's possible - actually knocking someone unconscious for a 10 count is not the only way you can stop them.
