It has been noted and blogged often just how smart Roy is as a boxer. He often has full conversations with his trainer and cornermen after every round and often literally says what a boxer is going to do next when hes commentating (its actually scary on some Winky Wright fights). But I've never seen a fighter work a gameplan better than Floyd. He opened up Corrales for those left hooks by jabbing to the body all night, jabbed Sharba Mitchell to the head until the straight right to the body opened up, and just murdered Zab with straight right and left hook combos after he saw Zab couldnt stop it.

So I ask...Who has the smarther Boxing brain. Floyd or Roy

Mayweather definitely. I've never seen Jones as a thinking boxer at all, more an unorthodox one who just does what he does and nobody can deal with it because it's so different and he's so athletic. Much like an Ingle gym fighter but better. Mayweather I see as a real boxing genius.

I love it when you can listen in on them

he actually debates it rather than just listening or ignoring and its amazing how calm he is

I think Jones was the superior fighter, but Mayweather had the greater ring intelligence.

This one isn't even close. If jones had the ring intelligence of PBF, he might still be undefeated.

PBF's ability to make the appropriate adjustments throughout the fight is amazing.

Make this PBF or Hopkins and you've got a poll.

I'd strongly favour Hopkins in that one. Until Oscar got tired and stopped throwing it, PBF didn't seem to know how to counteract his jab. Hopkins takes jabs and sticks them in his pocket and keeps them there the whole night. Also, Hopkins's ability to win even though he is 43 and has understandable stamina issues sets him apart from PBF, who never had to contend with that problem.

    PBF.

I think RJ's so called smarts as a fighter is overrated. What good did this do when his all world reflexes and leg disappeared? He couldn't adapt.

Agreed. While Roy has great experience and knows what's going on in the ring, Floyd simply has the better "boxing brain". Hopkins and Floyd are top in the game for their ringsmarts.

Yes, I see Hopkins as one of the most ringsmart fighters in history. I'm not even sure who I would put above him, if any.

Not even close. Floyd is 3 times smarter than Jones in the ring. Jones got great punching power while Floyd got decent so he have to grind his battles out and still manages to get the highest landed/landed upon ratio in history. Speaks for itself. Plus Jones fought bunch of tomatoe cans while Floyd took on primed fighters whose opponents went on to become champions like Corrales, Castillo, Chavez, Hatton. Floyd opponents' trainers often just throws in the towel bc of the one-sided beatdown. At least with Jones, you can still hope for that china chin of his.

Mayweather while having more ring intelligence he also had more smarts outside the ring too and retired unbeaten. Jone's should have got out at the top as well but isn't thinking straight these day's, Should hang them up now before he gets really ****ed up!
