Hard to say. Floyd has numerous of advantages on height + reach + flexible body + born in a fighter family.

You should have seen what would have happened if Juan would have tried to head butt May in the mouth! :scaredas::scaredas::!:

No, they are two totally different kinds of boxers.

I like(d) James Toney's boxing ability (slightly) over Floyd's, but Floyd is definitely a smarter fighter. No one better in the game, when it comes to ring IQ.

I voted Juan for this reason.

Yea, I'm not sold on the fact Floyd can adjust to old age as well as Hopkins or Marquez have. JMM has had lots of wars and looked aged since the first Diaz fight, and he's still operating at the very highest level.

So does Hopkins and JMM have a higher ring IQ than Pernell or SRL?

I can see the argument for it. Whitaker and Leonard definitely had more physical tools. The brighter you shine without amazing youth or athleticism, the more obvious your Ring IQ stands out by mere necessity.

Voted for Juan for same reasons as Bogotazo. Though it's like voting which color is better, Red or Blue. Floyd outshines Juan with his physical attributes which let him fight seemingly safer and smarter fights.
That's the main reason why Marquez takes so much risks. He knows he has to fight closer to his opponents to be able to pull feints, counters, combos etc.. He fights extremely smart given the lack of natural gifts that Floyd was blessed with.
I've read so many threads about people thinking Katsidis giving Marquez a huge challenge when in reality it was Marquez who chose to fight the way he did. Very risky, but extremely smart of him to pick Katsidis off from the inside.
Watching Marquez change styles like that is basically the same as watching Mayweather when he switches to push back lefties. At least for me.

I don't know. I do know Floyd has infinitely better reflexes. He has the best reflexes in boxing right now. That makes him look "smarter".

Good post; he fought brilliantly against Katsidis, not losing a round after the 3rd. I'd say Marquez gives us more looks in his adjustments and does different things each time out with all sorts of combinations, counters, and tatical rhythms. Floyd, for me, basically either fights going backwards while controlling the distance to counter, lays on the ropes to fight in the pocket, or comes forward at range to apply controlled pressure. He's found a few select winning formulas, and they work very well, but they don't seem to involve as much creativity as JMM's work when he feints and baits to set up his opponents seemingly knowing what they're already going to throw.
