Old Stonehands has taken you under his wing. He'll tell you all about how the slick southpaw, rubix cube, Pernell Whitaker would have had Duran in his back pocket.
They've been mentioned already, but Bernard Hopkins is a brilliant at strategies to take an opponent's main strengths away by studying tendencies. Also Carlos Monzon implemented his own imprint on every fight I've seen him involved in...EVERY fight. He ultilized every advantage he had as far as size, length, and style. Very calculating fighter, excellent judge of spacing and timing. Efficient and very smart.
what a great way of putting it, hopkins wisdom for boxing is so big it seems that he becomes a deffirent fighter each time according to his opponent. the only thing that is the same is his dirty in fighting.
I don't know if I'd consider Ali one of the smartest fighters of all time. Smart, yes... But sometimes I feel it was simply pure willpower that let him win his biggest fights. Foreman and Frazier III were certainly not genius moves on his part. Strength of will though? Yes.
