Canelo is young. A loss to Golovkin wont hurt him. He still will always have the fan base regardless. But I can understand wanting to protect your prized fighter after Haymon purged Golden Boy. Oscar is paranoid. Heck he might even be back on the sauce.

 

Hell, if he wants to fight at 155 he's welcome to. The division is from 154.5 - 160. He just shouldn't force OTHERS to fight at that weight.

 

I think some sort of control has to be established in that a title fight cannot be fought with a catchweight under any circumstances because this is what happens.

 

Yes titles should not be fought for or defended at catch weights. But boxing has no infrastructure to implement rules like these.

 

Then he needs to drop the 160 title and create a new 155 title that he can be comfortable with.
