Not sure if it was any kind of over training , pressure or obviously their opponents. But I thought Macklin looked absolutely dreadful, I had him losing by a couple of rounds. For the European champion to look so flat after 4 rounds against a club fighter is just good enough , he is 28 now , in his prime and looked unfit on a PPV!!!! Varon is not even the best in Spain!!! Smith on the other hand looked like the pressure might have gotten to him , it may have been degales biggest night , but also Pauls , he looked slow , sluggish and his defence although never whittacker like , was wide open. Im not sure it was any overtraining , but I think he will be very disappointed with his performance. Correct stoppage.
Paul smith looked no worse than any o his recent performances, at least his last 3 have all been like that, it's just he was against a higher level ofopposition tonight. He's found his level, and it ain't the same as degale's
Macklin needs the title shot rapid. ****in pisses me off when he says" i'm better than this level" well prove it. Macklin fought like he was intimidated at times. Bit like when he fought geard ajetovic. No very confident with him tbh
I think smith was unfortunate to come up against someone as supreme as degale. It is scary how good he showed himself to be. There is a future for smith at euro/British level. With regards to macklin, I thought he was lucky to get his decision, and has also found his level tbh
x3 You don't go life and death with Dodson if you've got something about you Check Froch v Dodson to see what you do to that level of opoosition if you are goiing places Typical dopey UK orthodox fighter, who fights face first and has the demeanour of a puncher without the record to back it up
And I came on here to humbly admit that straight after the fight. If I'm being honest, one of the major differences was size difference. Degale looks like he could campaign easily at light heavy, and smith should compete at middle IMO. Degales right jab was the key to everything quality he did last night. He did the fundamentals well, and the rest was taken care of
Size difference? Degale was better than him in every department mate. You went on for weeks about Smith beating Degale and laughed at people telling you Degale would make it look easy. He made Smith look like the limited fighter he is. Degale is going places. He can compete with the BEST at 168 and I personally believe he can beat them all.
i never gave smith a chance in the first place suprised at the people who did. and like brummy said macklin keep's saying he only fights to the standard of his opponents.. **** off just face it your struggling.
Agreed on both counts. Smith was always going to make Degale look like Ali, fact. Macklin think's that he is much better than what he is.
unfortunate, what happened to the motor mouth, his days were numbered,he has never give a solid performance not that i can remember, if you were to go on his last two fights how could you of expected himnwin against degale. degale humiliated smith last night.degale didnt even break sweat, now thats what i call someone going to the very top
It was dopey orthodox v slick southpaw, we've seen that story many times on our shores and it usualy only has 1 outcome
Which I have already said. The size difference was obvious, and my point is lhw seems to be the natural route for degale as his career progresses. Southpaw v orthodox does usually represent stylistic problems too, but I'm certainly not hiding behind the fact he is simply better than smith and headed to the top
