Round 1 was 10-9. There were no rounds close enough to be even. Smith won 1-3, and 10. Simpson the rest. Pretty ****ing straightforward, guys.
Smith had a good opening round because he had the speed advantage but Simpson like the grinder he is kept pushing. Smith deterioated bar a final hurrah in the 12th. He got tired, held like mad, was winging shots and was getting beat up on the inside. The judges did not see Simpsons inside work, the fact he was the ring general and didn't have to use survival tactics like Smith. I had a feeling Simpson would get jobbed. Smith raising his hand after each round, even ones that he has lost, does not mean he won.
Had it 115-114 Smith, he did brilliantly to come back in the last 4. Terry O'Connors scorecard was a ****ing disgrace.
No point in a third fight IMO. same result will happen. Terry O'Connor should be made to justify his scorecard.
By the way, credit where credit's due IB. Not seen many people from US interested in a wednesday night british fight card. :good
Madness. I think it was round 8 where in the last minute I decided to count how many clinches he initiated and it was something like 7. He deserved at least 1 point deduction, maybe 2.
Simpson is understandably pissed off. Says he won both fights. "What's the point of having a third fight, it'll be nae different to the first two fights" Simpson.
