Its Franks fault that Bayar isn't getting a rematch IB. He is a **** promoter that hardly ever gives the fans what they want.

It was before the Lyndsay fight he said he would retire if he lost, i hope he continues. He is the type of fighter who deserves a living out of this sport. Somewhere in England right now, Hagman is lambasting this **** decision.

I really feel for Simpson, fair play to Smith, both fights were very close, but I know John will be gutted with that O'Connor scorecard, Simpson is as honest as the day is long and well respected, he is a proud man and I can see him walking away. He said it himself, what is the ****ing point with ****s like O'Connor. John puts everything on the line in his fights and it's not the first time some corrupt ******* with a scorecard in his hand kicks John's feet from under him with dodgy scoring.

    Disgrace!

I think it is a skill to and I expect boxers to be able to do what Simpson did and deal with but excessive survival clinching should be penalised. Its an overhook wrestling hold designed to neutralise your arms. You are supposed to use your hands to hit each other. If they are neutralised it is unfair to throw him etc The whole problem with excessive survival clinching is the fighter spends ages untying his arm, only to be re-clinched.

I don't think Simpson hit behind the head an insane amount. I think that had more to do with Smith continously ducking his head and spoiling.

Yeah, I agree. The rules weren't enforced properly basically, but it's a referee not seeing what he's looking at. It can seem like both fighters are participiating - John wanting to be close didn't help probably.

But basically he broke the rules 111 times without even drawing a warning. Simpson hit behind the head 8 times or something.

    Did you count 111 clinches?

Really good fight I thought. I missed the first two rounds though - was there any more reason than that one big flurry to give a 10-8 in the first round? I had assumed there was a KD but clearly not.

As TFFP says if this type of clinching isn't penalized on most fights then why should it be penalized in this one?

Push for a change in the rules in general, not for a ref to get suddenly strict for this one fight.

It was a fight, no deductions was the correct decision from the ref. It was a close fight, if you scored for Simpson then fine but why look for a deduction? To make the decision seem even worse than you already think it is?

    Good post.

You could see Simpson was scunnered in the aftermatch interview, glad he spoke out though and told it like it was.
