It wont be allowed to happen, cant you see that, Paul Smith lose his belt to a kid who,s fought 8 times in the city were he grew up and lives his life, with thousands of scousers going crazy and not allowing any other result. Someone has got this very wrong.
Degale is lucky he is still riding the crest of his Olympic success. We don't even know if degale can be top dog in Britain, being a British class fighter is no disgrace, people run it down, which is disrespectful. Smith has to win this fight to progress on his career. Degale can bounce back from a defeat. It is poised so nicely! Questions that need answering, will be answered. Will degale be exposed as the pretty boy hype job, all glitter no glue that I know a lot of people think He is? Will smith prove himself, and finally be let beyond British level by allegedly?
I'm not saying it necessarily will show anything, but once that match is made, that's the guy you gotta fight! What I am saying is smith should have been fighting beyond British at thus point. I mean for gods sake, if Matty hall could fight at euro level, smith can!
Hall got smashed at Euro level?? He has had two fights at British level and struggled against limited fighter. Thats shows he is not ready to move beyond.
Being the "trade paper" and knowing they go to press on Wednesday's, Warren/Dean Powell must have told 'em in advance so they can put it in the magazine. It's quite obvious going by this thread that the fight's a done deal and a few people already know :good. On the fight itself, I think DeGale takes it. Might have a few dodgy moments but Smith hasn't being looking great at British title level. The only way Smith takes this IMO is if DeGale can't handle the 12 round distance. But seeing as he's with Jimmy Mac, he should be more than prepared.
What I meant was he has had his chance, I know the ins and outs of what subsequently happened when he stepped up. Put it this way had Magee not DUCKED smith he woulda been there by now. Allegedly is putting this fight on (allegedly) because it's a mobster ticket seller at the end if the day
I think Degale will be too sharp and slick in the first 4/5 rounds. If Smith can slow him down (I think he can) and use his strength to tire Degale, it could turn very interesting late on. But I think Degale will come out ontop!!! I tilt my hat to W.arren for pitching two of his money spinners against each other. I really didnt think he was going to do it
I've seen his last 2 fights, the ones that matter in this context. Beating up all the cans in the world is not as important as the title class fights. I'm sure I've seen various other fights as well but I'm judging him mostly based on these. And the facts are, he barely, and I mean barely won them. He was getting outboxed by Dodson early on until he dragged it into a more attritional affair. He hardly showed his class jab you're on about, he won on sheer will, which is great I wouldn't doubt that and his toughness but skills? He barely deserved the win over Quigley, that really could have gone either way quite easily, he certainly didnt prove himself a class above Quigley like a true world class operator like Cleverly did. I'm not convinced by his infighting skills. Anytime someone comes near him he seems to lurch in and grab hold of them. How's he going to win this fight unless DeGale dies on his arse late in the fight? DeGale's going to be so much faster, have so many more tricks, more angles, better defence, better everything. Everything except proven 12 round ability, if he lasts he's either going to stop Smith late or win fairly comfortable on the cards.
Well we all see things differently. There's no point arguing the toss with you. Bit I will say one thing, just because someone wins a certain way doesn't mean another person will best them by the same means. Plus I believe quigley fought clev at light heavy which certainly isn't quigleys natural weight division. I get why you think what you think about smith, just doesn't make it the truth. We will see in December. How's about an avi bet? I promise not to dissapwar IF smith loses
Great fight for De Gale. Hes starting to really look the business and I think he will win this if it is on.
Interesting comment from Avid re 'doing a Dirrell'...perhaps he knows that Smith can only win it really if Degale decides to trade. If Chunky just boxes him and counterpunches I fail to see how Smith wins this one. Credit to both and to FW for making it happen
Smith is levels below Degale... it's as simple as that. This will be easy work for Degale. And I mean EASY.
