Just watching it now. A few points. Smith is noticeably bigger than canelo. Joe Gallagher stirring already, and confident of stopping canelo, and that's what their going out there to do. Anticipating a sell out, with the arena having a capacity over 100,000! Personally i'm looking forward to this fight, and could be the biggest fight of the year
Canelo will have too fast hands for Smith but I wouldn't put my house on Smith catching him maybe and KO win. If it goes distance then Canelo all day long in my opinion.
Hopefully against someone with a winning record. I think Canelo could gas in this fight late on if Smith can work his body. I'm sure 154 will be a struggle for him. Is there a rehydration clause here?
Watching the IFL interviews this is definately a common opinion amongst War ren, Macklin, Gallagher and Liam's brothers. He would have to win a shut out to get a decision and he doesn't have 1 punch ko power to trouble Canelo early. Therefore i'd have to agree that this is definately Smith's best chance of the win with CA being worn down by Liam's quality body shots.
Exactly. Canelo is deceptive because he is so solid. I guess he's about 5'9 but his neck / shoulders are so solid and he seems to grow spectacularly on fight night. Smith is good but it worries me when Gallagher fighters face elite opposition. There's no doubt that his fighters are as well conditioned as any fighters in the world. But there's a theme with strong / well conditioned offensive fighters falling short at the top level and not showing enough head movement / general ringcraft. I hope I'm wrong because I don't think Alvarez is all he's cracked up to be but he is still an excellent fighter and I'm not sure that Joe is the best trainer to engineer his defeat.
