It's a pity these two never met in the early 90 s. Could have been a great match up. Both big puncher s and both could be dropped. How do u see it going? Razor no doubt comes in as favourite but I don't rule out the smoke in this . Ruddock from the tyson fights and Cooper from the mercer ft. 10 round s but don't believe it s getting to the final bell.
Bert Cooper couldn't take body shots from big strong slow Foreman imagine what a quick , strong prime mean hungry big Ruddock would do. Cooper folds in 3 from Razor hybrid left hook / uppercut .
Cooper and Ruddock have 7 common opponents Conroy Nelson - Cooper WTKO 9 Ruddock WUD 10 Cedric Parsons Cooper WKO 1 Ruddock WTKO 7 Oscar Holman Cooper WTKO 10 Ruddock WUD 8 David Jaco Cooper WUD 10 Ruddock LRTD7 Carlos Hernandez Cooper WTKO 8 Ruddock WDQ 7 Reggie Gross Cooper LTKO 8 Ruddock WTKO2 Anthony Wade Cooper WTKO 8 Ruddock WUD 10 Cooper is 6-1 (5 KOs), Ruddock is also 6-1 (only 2 KO's). Looks like Cooper did better against most common opponents, BUT. Mostly it was young Cooper and young Ruddock. More matured Ruddock would've done better than that. MY PICK They were both very hard hitters, with pretty decent chins. But Razor was much taller, bigger, and in most of his fights came in better shape. He looked good vs Tyson, and Tyson was way better boxer than Bert Cooper. Ruddock would stop Bert Cooper by mid-rounds KO/TKO
Yep quite a few common opponents there big guy. Strange how it works out that way some time s. One guy does better against his commen foes but head to head he probably loses. I see this also as a win for razor. In fact if ruddock times it well it could be over quickly. The only way bert wins is if he takes what ruddock dishes out and razor gets tired and careless. Which has happened. Then Cooper starts getting his right s and hooks in. He could hurt razor that way and could be another morrison type loss. But more likely is razor to strong and gets him early
I think Ruddock knocks out Bert early. Especially if this fight happens anywhere between 1988-1992. Cooper generally didn't last long against some of the more elite heavys and I can see Razor catching the shorter Cooper with those smash lefts.
Ruddock may win but he would make it a lot harder than it would have to be. Razor would stand in there and throw one handed bombs and Cooper is gonna get his shots off in return. It would be a lot of fun for the fans. That short right hand by Cooper was a serious weapon if you let him get in range to land it.
As a major fan of both guys and also as someone who gives Cooper a shot against many Ruddock is all wrong for Bert. Ruddock is big with with extremely heavy hands, Cooper if you hurt him early sometimes decided what's the point. But let's just assume hypothetically speaking that this is a Cooper bringing it all to the table, he would need to take the fight inside to damage Razor but I think Ruddock would land the smash as Cooper try's to come inside and I think he KOs Bert early and probably looks fantastic in doing so. Cooper isn't a great defender, he eats leather while plodding foreward, this is suicide vs Razor!
