  1. the bert cooper who did hurt a prime holyfield in 1991 vs tommy morrison who was destroyed by mercer in 1991. i think that cooper would have his chance by tko in 6.

Morrison was better but either could be knocked out early, probably Cooper first.

Tommy Morrison was the slickest fighter of the 90s, the clinic he put on against Foreman was surreal. He was like a magician in there, switch hitting and pop shotting out of nowhere like the second coming of Joe Walcott. Nobody, NOBODY could do what he did that night.

On the other hand, Sir Bert Cooper was without question the hardest hitter in history and was without question the best pressure fighter of his generation. He was the master of feinting, and drawing the very best technicians into brawls. Moorer and Holyfield were lucky he was faaaaaaaar best his best when he met them.

I think Morrison boxes circles around Cooper for the first 5 rounds but ultimately bites a fake and gets took down with the best uppercut in history. Some people hate on Morrison's chin but it was only really great punchers that knocked him out...and Cooper is such a puncher and more.

Cooper has been knighted? Haha. With Foreman Morrison knew he couldnt stop him. With Cooper I think he would go for the KO.

Cooper was "Hot & Cold" even in his prime... A 1991 Morrison was not at his best... Yes, he waxed a shot Pinky Thomas, but Morrison looked ordinary against the Russian in April 1991 prior to getting iced by Ray Mercer in Oct. 1991...

"The Coop" has a chance in 1991 to KO "The Duke," but I ain't bettin' a dime on this one...

Yeah, not betting any money if this took place. It would be a great fight though.

I have Coop's fight / win over Joe Hipp from 1991 on tape... I think it was part of the undercard to "Mercer-Morrison?"

Morrison is the better boxer but he made mistakes,if Copper were to take his chance when Tommy offered it like Bentt did he would get the KO.I think Cooper gets a come from behind Ko win.

I would take Cooper, he hit just as hard as Tommy, he and Tommy are both on many former fighters lists as one of the hardest punchers they ever fought.. I know for sure I heard McCall who sparred with Tyson for ever and was in the ring with everyone say Cooper hit harder then Mike and everybody else he fought for that matter this was years ago but he did say it..

There have been others that claim Cooper could really bang as well, so though the initial thought may be that Morrison is the harder puncher its a close race.. Tommy had more one punch power in my eyes.. Cooper had the better chin by far, in most of Coops losses by stoppage he stopped himself.. Now when he wanted to fight and win you would have to beat it out of him, look how many punches he took from Evander! No way Morrison could take what Holyfield was dishing out to Cooper.. So in a tough back and forth SHORT and explosive fight I will take Cooper KO4!!

I think Cooper is very overated on this site. To me, he was a fringe contender at best, which is a nice way of calling him an above-average journeyman. Morrison was a legitimate contender. There are reasons why Tommy has only a few losses on his record and Cooper has many. It's an exciting fight for sure, but let's not make more of Cooper than he was. Yes, he has a chance in this fight, but I think Tommy had too much.
