Dont know if this has been done, but how does Frazier do against Ingo's Bingo? I think Frazier is a clear level above Ingo, but Johannson had a great right could he land it ,and what would happen if he did?
Well, I´m from Sweden so Obviously I would say that ingo would win, but no way. There is no way in h... that ingo could cope with Smokin Joe´s pressure and power. Ingo´s gone in probably 2 or 3 rounds and that´s just because Joe was a slow starter. All the best The Predator
The fight would resemble Frazier's bout with Manuel Ramos in a way, in that Ingo would probably get off one big shot that would either wobble or briefly deck Joe, but he would massacre Ingo after that, and in quick order too, like in 2 or 3 rounds. Ingo would be ko'ed by that badass left hook that Frazier had.
Joe Frazier by TKO/KO mid rounds. Ingo might win one or two rounds in the beginning but would not last against the awsome pressure and power of Frazier.
Ingo has a decent puncher's chance early, as every one of Frazier's opponents landed hard punches in the first rounds. And Johansson has more impressive early stoppages than every fighter Frazier beat outside of Foreman. But if Frazier survives, then he'll maul the Swedish boxer and stop him before the 6th. I'd make Frazier a 3:1 or at worst, 2:1 favorite.
Joe Frazier spells trouble for Ingemar. But he wouldn't get "smoked" like he got against Patterson, because Patterson's left hook was more devastating. Joe breaks him down though.
We don't even know if Ingo would be able to set himself and get off power shots with the pressure a prime Frazier would bring. Even if he does floor him, Joe gets up and mauls him regardless.
Remember that left hook Patterson disabled Ingo with? Think of that left hook in THE 15th round in the FOTC landing on Ingo in the first few rounds.
I wouldn't bet on it, but Ingo could stop him early. If he stopped elusive, durable Machen in 1, he can sure as hell stop Frazier, who always took punishment in the early rounds.
Why do you think Patterson's hook was more devastating? When was the last time he stopped a top heavyweight early with it?
Ingemar always said that he never saw the left hook and that was the trick. He said that after taking that left hook to the body a couple of rounds, it would start feeling like you were stabbed every time he punched you.. and then out of nowhere, boom.. something you don't see knocks you straight out. Patterson may not have been "powerful" in a sense we see Sonny Liston, but his speed is the key.
How does that show that Patterson's left hook was better? Frazier stopped more durable fighters with his left... not to mention knocking down Ali, something Patterson didn't come close to doing.
Ingomar Johanson was a great fighter who's power was something to be reconned with, but I simply don't see him beating Joe Frazier who was just too well rounded. Smoke was faster, stronger, used incredible upper body movement, and everything else.
