I think that it was when Frazier was training for the second Ali fight.

 

He was. And Larry Holmes was Ali's sparring partner. It's easy to see what helped Norton and Holmes become so good,is n't it ?

 

After Manilla,Norton and Young would have beaten Frazier,imo. Not before it though.

 

Norton was flattened in the first sparring session with Frazier. He claimed in his book that he would have taken the fight with Frazier had it been offered to him, but it never was.

 

Yeah i totally agree, also norton had one of the best physiques of any heavyweight i've seen. He was a bit gung ho sometimes tho in the fights i've seen

Yeah? Young was actually quite close to reaching his peak by then (a year or so later).

Suppose it has to be great practice for your movement and defense to have Frazier chasing you down. That will make you focus.
