Frazier threw 631 punches over 15 rounds against Ali according to Compubox Usyk threw 905 punches over 12 rounds against Hunter according to Compubox Usyk's engine is on a completely different level to any heavyweight from 50 years ago, fair or unfair. Did Frazier have any experience against southpaws? I'm not seeing any obvious names. Southpaws are 2-3x more likely to beat top heavies than orthodox fighters, so it's an even bigger weakness for these old heavies who had next to no experience dealing with them: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...d-as-victors-against-top-heavyweights.700438/ Related: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/muhammad-ali-vs-usyk-who-takes-it.700952/#post-22221889
I think Fraizers style would cause Usyk problems. Going for Frazier to win by knockout or knockdowns.
This would be Usyks last stand. He's brave, I know he would come to fight, but Frazier would send him home to his people on his shield. This isn't Bredies or Gassiev we're talking about, Frazier is a legitimate monster. Usyk could take all the Loma ballet classes he pleased, that stuff would mean nothing to Frazier.
5'11, 205-214 lbs Frazier would be dusted inside 2 rounds by 6'5.5, 245 lbs Joshua, just as he was against 6'3, 217 lbs Foreman. Frazier had minimal firepower by comparison and objectively couldn't outwork Usyk.
Here we go again. Joshua doesn’t fight like George. Why didn’t he dust off Ruiz? Joe would have been on Usyk like a rash. You’ve seen Usyk when he hasn’t got time and space. It would have been a hard fight for him. It’s not about P4P ability, it’s about how they’d have matched up stylistically. It’s why Mike Tyson would have beaten Usyk. Because Usyk had nothing to have kept Mike off of him. Frazier wasn’t as dynamic as Mike, but that would have been a very tough match for Usyk.
You talk about "stylistic matchups" and then refer to heavyweights who never fought a southpaw, let alone good one, let alone the best, in their pro careers. Can't you see the obvious contradiction? And then you claim they would beat the GOAT heavyweight southpaw, who is also the GOAT cruiser, with an elite skillset, athleticism, iron chin and unprecedented engine, and all of the modern advantages in terms of drugs, studying past fighters. Mike Tyson would have had nothing for Usyk after the first 4 rounds, his engine was abysmal by comparison and Usyk is a much bigger man. Emotionally volatile Mike would get frustrated (especially given the racial/cold war pressure) and foul his way out.
How did you come up with southpaws are 2 to 3x more likely to beat heavyweights? Is there a stat I can reference?
I loved Smokin Joe but Usyk is next level. UD Usyk but Joe wins some rounds. Usyk frustrates Joe and outworks him.
