You really couldn't be anything worse for your boxing ability, and also your health in general. Its the worst decision you can make, in all aspects of your life.

In terms of boxing though, it will destroy your lungs, and you will gas very quickly.

You'll just never be able to reach your potential unfortunately. Just give them up (easier said than done)!

You shouldn't even need boxing as a reason to give them up.

Smoked for five years, quit for 10 now, and STILL feel like it affects my performance to this day. Worst decision you can make in life - do yourself a favor and quit as soon as possible!

I smoked for 13 years and I can say it was the biggest mistake I ever made. I haven't smoked for almost 5 years now. I couldn't believe what a difference it made to my overall fitness level after I quit. Since quitting I have run a half marathon, climbed a few mountains and gained 15lbs of solid muscle. I would have never of done any of that if I had still been smoking.

Anyone here smoke Shisha? Do you find it impacts your boxing? It hasn't had much of an effect on me, but I smoke it very, infrequently... maybe once a month tops..

Honestly, I smoked for 15 yrs and was a runner (about 5 miles a day) and played a lot of pickup basketball during the summer. I was in such great shape, that I could play ball all day then go run 5 or 6 miles and go back to the court for more b-ball.

I smoked that whole time. Kinda makes me wonder who much better I could have performed if I hadn't smoked?

I quit smoking on Ash Wednesday, 2001. The day after I got back from Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

smoking in your youth is actually the worst time to do so, the alveoli in your lungs develop in your teens and if you smoke during this time they will never develop even if you stop smoking when you are 20 its too late as the alveoli only develop when your in your teens, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you were probably better off injecting heroin into your arm than smoke and try to box
