Do you have a link to some studies or articles discussing this? It sounds unlikely to me, sounds like a scare line from an anti-smoking website. I was under the impression that your alveoli are developed by 8 years old and Vitamin A can help regenerate alveoli.

hey i smoke as well but not so much, i'd say three or four a day, is that enough to have any effect on performance? no straightedge disinformation garbage please (thou shalt die if you smoke)

i first heard it doing my pt course where it was mentioned but no studies were used to show us, you were right about when they develop though as i was wrong they develop from an early age but once destroyed are near impossible to get back thus cannot be regenerated or regrown, smoking destroys them simple so people asking does smoking really affect performance are some dumb questions

Nope, not at all. It does wonders for clearing out the lungs and actually toughens them.

Of course it does. It has way more carcinogens than cigarettes and plays a profound role on mood. Yes, there are psychological withdrawals from it. However, once a month is not often at all.

it's a banned substance under AIBA, and world anti-doping agency rules...so if you are competing in anything like a qualifying tour or up, are at risk of being DQ as a drug cheat if testing is done. The last 2 tours I've been to involved random testing. In one of those..10/12 bouts on the final days card were sent immediately to observable urine testing after each match.

Just quit smoking, it's much easier than you think anyway. If anyone tells you that it's very hard don't believe that person, it's probably someone with very little discipline. If you don't have the discipline to quit smoking, boxing probably isn't meant for you as it requires **** loads of it.

My first fight i didn't smoke and went three rounds balls out. My second fight i had started smoking, went one round balls out, gassed in the second and third. But trained longer and harder for my second fight.

Do the math, do all the roadwork and conditioning you want. But if you smoke you wont have 20% of the lungs you do if you didn't.

Pointless question. If there are more pro's that smoke are you going to continue smoking because they do?

To me smokers are idiots. They actually choose to slowly kill themselves and pay for the honor of doing so. Can you be more idiotic? They also put their family and friend's health at risk by smoking around them.

Quit smoking now, it's entirely pointless and a drain on your life with no benefits whatsoever. Stop trying to validate it so you can continue.

Kinda agree with this... Quiting smoking is as easy as getting and staying in
shape. "Easy" here does mean you have control over your mind/emotions. It's
easy when you have found the switch. The trick is getting to a place where
you can allow yourself to flip all the switches. [/esotheria] :smoke
