A great reminder of the gulf between good and great. If Duran was a natural middle like Benn, it wouldn't have been a sparring session but a slaughter.
Yea I always mention him when footwork is mentioned. People don't think of him having exceptional finesse like that cause of his image as as a badass. He was flawless if not flashy.
Trying to remember which fight it was. Hagler was circling in one direction, stopped on the dime, pivoted a different direction while throwing a punch that dropped the opponent on his ass. The sudden change of direction seemed to surprise the opponent and he walked right into the punch. Poetry and brutality all in one slick motion.
Edwin Rosario had very very nice footwork James Toney had nice footwork but not in the traditional sense it's the way he used to step around his opponent as opposed to bouncing in and out. Cowboy Dale Brown had nice footwork
I loved how he could make an opponent follow him ...and spin them around ...and trap them on the ropes
The first time I ever saw him fight ....his footwork immediately jumped out at me ....I thought punchers were supposed to be flat footed
Yes I always loved his foot work short fast steps that reset and got him into position so smoothly. Looked flashy too. Beautiful footwork IMO
