Calzaghe is already gone and Kessler, Froch and Arthur and Lucian won't last forever. They're soon done. Then we will have what left... Andre Ward? Don't misunderstand me, I love Ward's boxing, great fighter. But I mean, will we really only have 1 true quality fighter left at SMW in a few years?
Not at all, you should watch the talent coming up rather than just the top dogs Edwin Rodriguez - 21 - 0 (14 KO) - Dominican Republic James Degale - 12 - 1 (9 KO) - Great britain George Groves - 15 - 0 (12 KO) - Great Britain Anthony Dirrell - 24 - 0 (21 KO) - USA Thomas Oosthuzien - 20 - 0 - 1 (13 KO) - South Africa Adonis Stevenson - 18 - 1 (15 KO) - Canada Combined recored of : 110 - 2 - 1 (84 KO)
Well Thomas Oosthuzien is the IBO Champion and holds wins over Rowland Bryant and Aaron Pryor Jr along with a draw with Isaac Chilemba Edwin Rodriguez holds a win over Pryor Jr also, Darnell Boone (who dropped Andre Ward) and Don george who fights in an IBF eliminator soon George Groves has a TKO win over Francisco sirriera, James Degale in a close fight and Paul Smith (tko 2) James degale also stopped british champ smith and won the euro belt against the man who gave Abraham a close fight the others also hold good wins but its very early for them at the moment and they need time to improve but once the Wards, Froch's and Kessler's are gone SMW will still be a good division. we may even see some new talents explode onto the scene By all means look them up on boxrec, ive seen them fight and theres some talent there
all bumps or overrated, or one dimensional power punchers who would get schooled by solid boxers. arthur has like 4-6 fights left. heard even a interview saying he wants to move up to LH. kessler already at LH, if boxrec tells the truth. direll is mental, same as dawson. who is left...bute exposed. ward and froch are the only real fighters who matter at sm at the moment. one thing is for sure ward is running out of quality opponents at his weight.
Super middle weight is turning into a barren wasteland? Hasn't that been the usual state of things in its brief history? The super six generation were more the exception that the norm in my opinion.
Bit harsh, its still early days yet. give them time and a little exposure, have them fight each other even. The only thing that super six accomplished was exposing these talents against each other, There were supermiddles back in Calzaghe's day who were pretty good but get called bums for some reason by ignorant people Give it time, I think it could still pick up. SMW was supposed to be dead when Calzaghe left it but it picked up and it will continue to do so.
