It seems that Mikkel Kessler has accepted to fight Mads Larsen in a pure danish macth-up. Kessler has only accepted it, in return for leaving Team Palle. There have been a disagreement between Mogens Palle and Kessler lately. Mads Larsen have refused to meet Bute because of a fight with Kessler. Well in Denmark it`s a big fight. But who else cares...Stupid of Larsen to avoid a fight against Bute. http://sporten.tv2.dk/article.php/id-19882200.html?forside http://tv2sport.dk/sport/vis/25067
Yes, if this was the reason he turned down the fight against Bute, i start to understand why he did it!
Good to see it get out of the way and Kessler can free himself of Palle. If it goes down that way. Larsen was pretty good (thought he beat Ottke) and seems still capable but he best years seemed to be wasted fighting 8 rounders against journeyman.
Larsen seems like to be the man and I think that it's also a good fight for Kessler as I see this being a big money-fight in Denmark. And just to let you know: The fight won't be aired live in Germany so big Danish PPV numbers should be expected...
Back five or six years ago the Danish posters on this site used to tell me that in sparring Kessler used to smash the **** out of Larsen easily. Should be pretty straight forward for Kessler, good money, and free him from the limitations of Palle. Just a bit of a waste of time though, hopefully he fights again soon after.
If he only fights Larsen and his next "mandatory" (that obscure Spotlight guy) in 2009 I'll stop supporting him. Damn, he could fight Glen Johnson now; a fight (granted that he beats Johnson) that would make Kessler-Taylor inevitable.
What makes me mad is Bute has been waiting for Larsen all this time and may have passed on a Taylor fight.
Difficult to say whether this is good or bad. If Johnson was in fact interested in fighting Kessler that would have been a better fight for Kessler, but if he is freed from his contract with Palle by fighting Larsen, it might finally open up for some big fights in the US for Kessler. Don't know if Palle has been an obstacle for the big fights to happen, maybe, maybe not.
