Kessler still has it in him to take care of the likes of Jack, Degale and the Dirrell brothers.

 

I think Kessler has been far too inactive and with the eye problems should stay on the safe sides of the ropes after a great career. I dont doubt that a prime Kessler could clear up or even a faded Kessler like the version that entered into the S6.
I think the SMW division has not been as strong for a long time, partly because Calzaghe cleaned up and it was a bit of a wasteland because the champ had left. the S6 brought some interest but it was not as strong as it had been previously.

 

With Degale and Jack they have had a few close debatable world title fights between them, ie Degale/Dirrell, Degale/Jack, Jack/Groves, Jack/Bute, Jack/Dirrell
If you look at all of Jacks world title fights, his fight with Anthony was a MD, his fight with Groves was a SD, his fight with Bute was a Mdraw and his fight with Degale was a Mdraw

 

Thats interesting what you wrote about Degale. He has amazing talent but somehow things dont always seem to come together for him.
I dont think SMW has been predominantly weak. Often (not always) I think it has been stronger than MW and LHW since its been around and it is a new division like CW
