SMW prospect luis garcia **vid**

Thanks for that vid, that's the Cuban Luis " el león " Garcia. I have never seen him that clearly, he does'nt have the typical Black Cuban look, he looks kind of African or Afro-American. He is pretty good, but looks a little uncoordinated and off balance at times. He certainly can go very far on pure raw talent and his Cuban amateur background. I believe that he is very young though, like 23 years old and it shows. He is not polished like his other Cuban stars Gamboa, Rigondeaux, Lara etc but can definitely be World Champion with hard work and dedication. Did the other guy went karate on Garcia? That's crazy! :huh

 

carl froch used him as his only sparring partner the last 4 weeks of training for Pascal.

 

Most talented of the Irish Cubans. Has loads of talent but as stated before, work in progress. I like how he's being matched, no serious bums, some tough customers, that's the way to gain quality experience. It's good though that he didn't face Campillo, and early loss would've been a major setback, but with careful management (in a positive way) he can get the kind of looks that's necessary for the big boys, let's say in 18 months.

I was at that Sipos fight and I thought he fought well, Sipos isnt an easy opponent for a guy like Garcia, he even gave Andy Lee some trouble when Lee was coming back after a layoff.

I've seen him training a few times and he looks brilliant, I dont normally talk like this about fighters this early in their careers but I think he'll be a world champ.

Doesnt have the same power of middle weight andy lee , Luis the light heavy couldnt put a dent in sipos.

 

Was at both of these fights and sipos fought a completely different fight against Garcia than he did against lee he was allot more aggressive against Andy and swung wildly and caught Andy a couple of times as evident by Andy's face but leaving himself open for Andy to hit him but against Garcia he was allot more defensive making it harder for Garcia to do any real damage

 

apparently hes not the most dedicated in the world. like walking out of a sparring session with darren sutherland (RIP) but the talent is there for sure


its interesting you should say hes the best big bone. a lot of people are very impressed with the bantamweight, alexi acosta and with the serious lack of talent in the heavyweights a guy like mike perez could make some noise. he may be to small for the K bros, but hey so is 99% of guys out there

 

Yes its evident that lee boxed the better more determined Sipos.
Your right that lee took too many punches in that fight but won it clearly.

That video of garcia vs sipos left out the 1st round were luis also got slapped around the ring by sipos.
The ref Mr Vann Rightly Put stop to sipos slapping with the inside of the glove unlike the ref that let it go on in the lee fight.

Garcia looked pretty good, still a bit raw, but you can see the talent in there. But I tell you what: he'd be so much better with a quality head-snapping jab. He leads with the hook, something a smart counterpuncher could time as he's coming in and gets inside a bit too much for my liking. IMO he could've had earlier nights had he chose to set some distance and properly set up combinations, going for the openings rather than trying to create them up close, often ending up in clinches. A quality jab and a better sense of distance, and he'll be ready for the next step soon! :thumbsup
