I don't follow amateur boxing but Burton is the ABA champ which usually means he's the best Am at the weight yet he doesn't get picked :huh You'd think someone like Rob McCracken, who does a good job in the pros, would push for his inclusion if he's the best around? Or is there something I'm missing here?
In them Am's they often dont pick a guy for olympics and GB squad if they have a criminal past etc or if they dont act like respectable member of the public.
Its a tough one really i think there is an aspect of selectors favourites from certain clubs. Though i think the thing about the ams is consistency and just because he is the ABA champ doesnt mean his the best in the country necassarily though obviously its a good indicator. He could have just had a good run of fights not saying he isnt the best or isnt a good fighter. Just saying there is other criteria than purely the ABA's
you would think so it be a great hatrick wins over Aston , Perkins and Ogogo to win the title again , But they will still pick the repton boxer Frank Buglioni who has not won a ABA title i dont think he has ever gotten out of the London area Finals i may be wrong. But to Have 2009 ABA Champion not selected for funding podium or development is a joke , the kid has just beaten Ryan Aston a funded boxer and last weekend beat 2 time ABA Champ and world Bronze medalist Neil Perkins in the Semis , He Now meets Junior world champion Anthony Ogogo in the final win or lose he should be seen as kid that should be on funding. Aston, Garvey, Perkins , Burton , Ogogo all entered the ABAS to see who was the best . Buglioni never how can he warrant Podium funding when he wont get in the mix.
I knew the answer to why he isn't being selected before I got to the 4th paragraph...there would be a ****ing riot if his name was Amir or Denzil :-(

Joe it's naughty what's being done to Hosea. Spoke to few fans of boxing in my Family and told them bout Hosea. They shook head's in disgust the same as rest do. I dunno what can be done...the lad don't wanna go pro from the boxingprospects video and yet he being mugged off like this. This is why i have no time for amateur boxing...just like banging head off brick wall. I hope this story gets exposed more and more to public..because it needs to be heard.
