Exactly. Mayweather was the one being the counter puncher in which marquez was the one being the pressure fighter.

It wasn't the only reason he won, but it was a big factor considering JMM's need to get in range.

This happened over and over again:

JMM needs to show more than power for me to be confident he can compete really well. Footspeed and handspeed (and waist flexibility) were key issues that looked much better in fight 3, and were sacrificed in fight 4 for THE POWEEEEEER.

Styles make fights. Mayweather's style will usually result in shut outs, and Pacquiao's will always give an opponent a chance. Mayweather will need to be completley outstyled or knocked out to have a "close" fight, where Pacquiao comes in and exchanges with little to no defence, so everyone has a chance if they can hold out long enough and if they come to fight. Does Pac deserve more credit for beating Hatton quicker too? No. The credit Mayweather gets is for that fight, and other fights wont factor into it.

I just want people to stop using the weight as an issue. Give Floyd his credit for the boxing clinic he put on that night.

    A win is a win.
    Mayweather dominated Marquez.
(But last nights KO of Pac>Floyd's career)

Mayweather should have been the first to do that to Manny.

Marquez had the misfortune of getting Mayweather at his absolute best. Not only had Mayweather finally grown into a full fledged welter he sti had his cat like reflexes.

Marquez is an ATG. Mayweather deserves massive credit. However I would not be disinterested i a rematch. Lets see how Heredia stacks up against Money

    Pretty much this...^

That was Marquez's first time going above 135, which was already a jump for him, and Mayweather purposely didn't make the agreed weight...at this point I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch, I think it would be more competitive but Mayweather would still win a decision...Marquez has grown into the weight and showed that he still has his speed and accuracy now added with some power...this version of marquez is better than the one Mayweather fought...

And let's not get ahead of ourselves, Pacquiao was clearly winning fight and seemed to really be taking control, I was expecting Marquez to go down in the 7th but Pacquiao got wreckless and too aggressive and Marquez capitalized. Take away that one punch and Pacquiao was gonna win that fight...its boxing, this **** happens, he slipped and got caught...

I give Floyd credit for beating the worst version of Marquez. But c'mon now Jmm is 39 almost 40 Floyd can become a real legend beating Martinez. But yea a rematch would be much more competitive and, interesting than the first. It's like if Floyd moved up to 160, took on Sergio as his first fight at 160, and you know Floyd wouldn't be at his best tho it'd be a gutsy, balsy move, something Floyd not really known for. Floyd given credit, but not full cred.

I guess we should also give credit to Ward for avoiding Bute and letting a guy he beat do his dirty work?

I'd be VERY disappointed if May faught Marquez now. The clash in styles means Mayweather wins quite easily again, and I think it'd be a cheap thing to do in beating the guy who KOed Pac, so the fight doesnt need to happen.

Floyd was, will be, and always be a stylistic nightmare for JMM.

Taller, faster, longer, more athletic counterpuncher will always beat the smaller, slower, shorter, less athletic counterpuncher.

I'll give Floyd credit for the near flawless performance as I thought the fight would be a little more competitive. But as far as his win, it was an expected mismatch for many.

Yeah, that's the point. Marquez's style is utterly incompatible with Mayweather's as Floyd is significantly better at everything he does including counter punching. Odds are, Marquez would have no chance to counter a superior counter puncher who is also bigger, faster, smarter and more skilled if they ever fought again.

That said, it always was a decent win but given the circumstances and their styles, there was little Marquez could do to begin with. Pac's come forward style suited him perfectly however.

The Marquez that fought floyd and the Marquez from last night are two different animals. Marquez was bloated and didnt move up in weight well against floyd. Now his physique is like Adonis and he's adjusted very well to 147. He's brought speed and power up with him. Anyone that thinks the marquez that sparked pacquiao and the marquez that lost a shut out to mayweather are the same fighter is delusional. Floyd came in and cherry picked a guy 2 weight classes lower than him. I'm not going to say that not making weight was an issue but it was really unprofessional
