So apparently Wilder wants the winner of Klitschko v Fury instead of Povetkin

Now think about that, If he was to beat Klitschko and be the man to finally dethrone him after ten years, I can't imagine he'd be that scared of Povetkin to give up a belt to avoid him.

Though I suppose it is possible. Wilder's management might pull what rock Newman did with Rid**** Bowe to get him a few less risky opponents.

 

Klitschko is the better fighter and the champ. I would never argue otherwise. It's just obvious to me to see "the writing on the wall" if Wilder after fighting two vastly unqualified opponents and requesting a third voluntary. Then opts to unify rather than face Povetkin. It's clearly an avoidance. But that hasn't happened yet so I don't want to be too harsh.
I think we can all agree if it did happen Povetkin would be in his right to feel he got a raw deal.

Yeah, but you have to admit, it would be hard to fault Wilder for taking this chance not only to get a big payday, but to cement his legacy as a boxer as well. He'd be the first undisputed champ since Lennox Lewis, and would be the man who finally dethroned Klitschko after so many years. Who wouldn't take an oppurtunity like that if they could get it? Wilder was almost be a fool not to just to fight Povetkin. Its the chance of a lifetime.

 

He probably fell he have better chances againt Wlad that are aging and looks old against Jennings. Klitschko will be 40 in 2016.
Povetkin is superb form and Wilder knows that and are scared to death.
And they ruin the prestige of the WBC title with Wilder and his voluntary against nobodies.
It`s a **** organization. Klitschko is only allowed to do 1 voluntary per year, even when he have 5 title on the shoulder .... And when he want to unify with Stivirne they not allow him and force him to face Pulev, who was mandatory for less then a month ....

Not a terrible outcome for Povetkin if he gets another mandatory fight vrs. Wladimir, very likely on Povetkin's turf. Obviously not in April, but maybe later in 2016.

Can't overlook that Joshua is currently #2 in the WBC ratings. If Wilder vacates or is stripped, we could see Povetkin vrs Joshua if Joshua is prepared to step up. But I think Joshua will want to take a few more fights against the likes of Chisora or Price or maybe Haye. Hone his skills and step up to the likes of Klitschko or Povetkin if they are still active in 2017.

 

The fans want to see Wilder-Wlad. Povetkin can wait if that fight happens. All Wlad has to do is beat Fury and I bet that Wlad Wilder is made.

 

Exactly. Povetkin isn't the type of fighter that fighters duck. He doesn't have that type of reputation in boxing for fans to believe something like that. Foh.

 

Three voluntaries against no hopers when one fight with Povetkin would make more than all three fights combined. If he then chooses Wlad instead it's a duck. It's obvious.

I predicted this a long time ago. Either he drops the belt and becomes the first PBC Heavyweight champion, or he takes the unifing over mandatory option.
No way big Al lets him get butchered by Povetkin in Moskow.

 

The official WBC Wilder-Povetkin negotiations should have been started by now.

Wouldn't surprise me if Wilder requested that meaningless tune-up just so he could stall the Povetkin negotiations and then tried to skip Povetkin and get a lottery ticket for Klitschko showdown.

However, Klitschko doesn't tolerate the con game during the negotiations so Wilder would likely have to bow down to K2 terms and say that he was coked up when he was talking about being in the "driver seat".
