and what are the chances of them setting up a DLH v Berto clash for the end of the year in replacement of Mayweather? Has PBF been officially stripped, the WBC website still show PBF as their WW champ but as they still have Bradley as the SuperLW, you can't put much stock in that. http://www.wbcboxing.com/WBCboxing/Portal/cfpages/contentmgr.cfm?docId=2&docTipo=8
He's fighting some Mexican cab driver for the vacant title, so I guess you could say they are giving it to him
Again, Berto is a HBO fighter and Stevie Wonder could see that he was going to fight for a vacant title against easy opposition. This is only going to hurt Berto when he finally fights an elite fighter. Unless, Rodriguez pulls a Mayorga (vs Forrest). Rodriguez is a King fighter just like Mayorga and he just came out of the wood work. Berto vs Oscar, WHY?
Berto will be fighting Rodriguez for the vacant WBC welterweight title ... i'm sure if he wins the strap that he's going to be calling out the big names ... but the one thing he should do is thank Floyd for giving him his fighting style and giving him the opportunity to fight for a championship ... not facing him and beating him.
Hopefully he will go in straight away with Williams or the winner of Judah vs Clottey, and set up a fight with Cotto. Once one of those has all 4 belts, Especially if its cotto and he has beaten DLH, mayweather fight should happen.
I'm not suggesting this fight should happen but I do think it could happen because that to me looks like Oscars best chance at winning another strap before he retires. I can't see him beating Cotto or Margo at this point in his career but Berto :think
yeah bit of a gimme from the wbc really. rodriguez lost on pts to baldomir. and that's probably his best result. atsch
Oscar can't make a healthy 147. He fought at 150, but believe me, three more pounds could make a major difference in speed and power. He will be seriously drained. Oscar is not thinking about fighting for another title. He has more titles than he could ever want. He just wants to have one more memorable fight before retiring and I respect him for that whether he wins or loses. It is going to be Cotto at 150 come December.
That is more realistic. Maybe even the winner of Zab and Clottey. There are times when a B fighter wins a title and then overnight they become A fighters. The belt changes things, but not everytime. Hopefully for Berto he falls into the A fighters bin. Again, that if he beats Rodriguez.
