So basically Floyd and Pac's 154 belts are meaningless

If we can agree that both title mean little at 154 Pac title was one of the biggest disgraces in boxing recent history. Fighting at a catch weight for a vacant title against a disgraced fighter that was KOed recently and had one comeback fight in which he struggled. This not all Pac fault Arum wanted 'to make' history probably even more than him.

p.s. anybody remembers what was Foreman ring rating at 154 when Cotto beat him???

Even my boy Floyd fought at a catch weight. The only thing that's legendary is 8 division, 8 time world champion and Fighter of the Decade, Manny Pacquiao.

 

Lets also not forgot that PAC was offered Foreman but didn't want him due to his height!

So at the end of the day whichever way *******s look at it they Run into a dead end!

 

Not sure if Foreman was even ranked by RING....but he was a legit champion by beating Santos....who beat Acline...who beat Alejandro Garcia who won the WBA strap at 154 by beating Travis Simms. Let's be real if we are going to be frank.....Cotto and PAC winning titles at 154 were legit...but it was a weak division.

 

Yuri is about the same height as Tony.....but I do recall reading that Yuri wasn't going to be an option because of his height....who knows but we do know NO ONE wanted to see that fight.

Maweather has already beaten a better, more historically important fighter for a 154 belt (ODLH). Which makes this entire Cotto argument irrelevant as far as Mayweather ever holding a legit 154 title.

Other than some irrational reason to hate on Mayweather, it's a pretty lame argument to make in the first place.

But hey, to each his own.

I never looked at Mayweather seriously campaigning at 154. It was always like a one-off type thing. Him and Cotto(e) had history, and I felt it was a fight that was long overdue. The fact that Cotto(e) was at 154 with a title was icing on the cake.

Pacquiao's catch-weight vacant JMW title was really just a circus and spectacle act. The "David vs. Goliath" thing, with a trinket attached. Neither were ever going to truly campaign at the weight.

 

No, no.....you don't hear anyone talking about the win by itself....but when anyone hears an introduction for the Sugar man they reference him as FIVE division champion. Not FOUR.

I'm really not at all disillusioned or delusional. My perspective derives from a deep understanding of the sport, the history and a deeper appreciation for the sweet science.
